How could anyone possibly agree with this? The guy was clearly no threat whatsoever.

Yeah the cop is too fat to run so he shoots a fairly innocnt kid. Tasering is huge issue for police lately, especially in the US. Like this:

Multiple sources said the sergeant was pursuing a 13-year-old boy who was fleeing the scene on a bicycle and reportedly deployed his Taser at the teen through the passenger window of his vehicle.

I don't want to digress but my point is police officers around North America have proven time and time again they cannot handle the responsibility of a taser, they use it as an easy way out of situations because they are too lazy/stupid to follow proper protocol.

I hope the public outcry costs him his job and more cops their tasers. I heard on ESPN the Phillies will no longer authorize officers to chase fans who run on to the field it will be held by unarmed security officers from now on, then again I don't think anyone is going to test that anytime soon.

Guy seemed pretty unhurt by it within 10 seconds though. He's walking off just fine. Having never been tasered, I can't say, but I thought that **** hurt a lot more than it appeared to there.

Still, it's a ridiculous use of force. Not trying to say that makes it a good idea.

Yeah, I mean one small undiagnosed heart condition means that kid could be dead right now. When all he did was run on the field during a ball game.

stupid lazy cop.

Anyone see this:

http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=5165782

Headline reads: MLB players applaud Taser use for fan on field

Now the bulk of the story doesn't really have that much applauding in it, but my favourite contrasting excerpt is this:

Mariners pitcher Cliff Lee knows the image of a fleet-footed fan juking out a portly security guard in the outfield can be comical. But he admitted to being frightened about one getting too close.

"You never know what their intentions are," Lee said. "They have probably been drinking, or maybe have taken drugs. You don't know what they are going to do."

Reds outfielder Laynce Nix said it doesn't take a Taser-armed guard to make him feel safe on the field.

"You never know what kinds of crazies are out there, but I don't feel threatened," Nix said. "To be honest, I kind of wish somebody would come out for me. I would take pleasure in taking care of him, but I feel safe with the security."

So when a drunk teenager jumps on the field and starts running around, Cliff Lee wants to fall to the ground and start crying 'I'm a hemophiliac' while Lance Nix is getting ready to run over and dole out some satisfying vigilante justice. Awesome.

Well, Monica Seles was stabbed by a crazed fan who ran out onto the court.

FWIW, Charles Barkley agrees with LittleOzzy:

1:35 into the video. We all know Chuck is infallable, so I guess we should probably just lock up this thread right now.

While I don't condone running on to the field, despite it being almost always amusing, this is outrageous. People aren't cattle and shouldn't be electrocuted when there is no real threat and lesser force can be used.
