Litsch recalled/Tallet sent to pen

Post#1 » by Randle McMurphy » Wed Jun 9, 2010 10:11 pm

RGriffinStar

Rommie Lewis optioned to AAA. Litsch recalled to start in Tallet's place. Will join Jays in Colorado. Tallet can pitch in pen Thursday-Cito.

Looks like they took my advice, just a day too late to save them a loss. Oh well, better late than never. Tallet's presence in the bullpen should really help their collective struggles, I think, though I do fear Cito over-using him.

Griffin is also reporting than Scott Richmond is starting tomorrow at Dunedin, so he could also be on the way back for the 5th spot, depending on how Litsch does.

They werent going to win last night anyways. Not when you hit a batter on an 0-2 count and he was attempting to bunt.

Tallet vomiting on the field kind of excuses him from blame for that loss, IMO.

Meantime, here comes Litsch. We'll see what he does with his control game and a weaker defense this year. I hope he comes up and pitches well, we could use a consistent pitcher in the 4/5 slot. If Morrow continues to pitch as he has thus far, then we'll just be nasty. At least from a pitching POV.

EDIT: Tallet is a good reliever; this is positive, if only for that reason.

Tallet always belonged in the bullpen. He is a reliable and probably our best long relief man, maybe even best overall this season as Fraser, Downs, Gregg and company have been very shaky. Tallet and Jannsen look decent

im also not too high on Jesse Litsch. He is decent, but like AA said, they r looking for high impact players who will reward in the future. Litsch will be an average pitcher at best........ i guess he can fill in for now, though i rather Richmond do that

Scott Richmond was down right NASTY (in a good way) last time he was in the MLB full time. I remember he was second best pitcher after Halladay for the first half.... but then screwed up in the second half. He is decent 5th option

Well speaking of Scott Richmond, he begins a stretch of rehab starts in Dunedin very soon...so good news for Richmond fans.

His control and lack of a really good out pitch against lefties hurt him. He's a solid option in the pen and as a spot starter. If he comes up, it'll be to bolster our relief staff, which has been crapping the bed of late.

Why not Rzep? He's had a couple good games as of late at least. Litsche has been shakey so far this year in AAA.

Atleast Tallet' in the pen though

ahh i see it now...this quick reply button is the death of me...

But as for now, I expect Litsch to get a few starts before they make a decision of Marc Rzepcynski and whether he'll be called up and be named the 5th starter.

The Jays weren't going to win the game no matter who was pitching that night. 2 hits ain't going to win you too many game, if at all.

I think Litsch is better than Richmond, by a fair margin. Ultimately we should expect Zeppy up here when he is ready, but I am just happy Tallet is back where he belongs and where he performs best.

I'm sure they would have played with more effort and intensity with a better pitcher behind them.
