Series Thread: Cardinals @ Blue Jays | June 22-24

Tuesday, June 22 | 7:07 PM ET
STL Jaime Garcia, LHP (6-3, 1.59) @ TOR Brett Cecil, LHP (7-3, 3.58)

Cardinals: Garcia got things sorted out his last time out, regaining the efficiency that marked his first few starts. When he throws his fastball for strikes early in the count, it sets up everything else he does -- particularly, it sets him up to use his slider as a put-away pitch. The interesting question will be whether Garcia can continue to keep the ball in the park. He's allowed two homers all year, while Toronto leads the Majors in long balls by a long way.

Wednesday, June 23 | 7:07 PM ET
STL Chris Carpenter, RHP (8-1, 2.83) @ TOR Ricky Romero, LHP (6-3, 3.08)

Cardinals: Carpenter returns to the city where he began his Major League career. It's also the place where he pitched possibly his best game as a Cardinal, a one-hit shutout in Interleague Play in June of 2005. The right-hander has been susceptible to the long ball at times this year, so he'll need to keep the ball down against a powerful Toronto lineup. Since joining the Cardinals, Carpenter is 3-3 with a 5.10 ERA in American League parks.

Thursday, June 24 | 7:07 PM ET
STL Adam Wainwright, RHP (10-4, 2.23) @ TOR Brandon Morrow, RHP (4-5, 4.97)

Cardinals: Wainwright has been dominant at home, and merely excellent on the road. All four of his 2010 losses have come away from Busch Stadium, and his ERA on the road is more than a run higher than it is at home. Of course, that 2.78 road mark would still be one of the best in baseball, so it's not like he's struggled. Still, facing a designated hitter adds an extra challenge, though it's one Wainwright will likely meet with aplomb. He's allowed more than two earned runs only four times in 15 starts this year.

What do you mean interleague streak? They play 2 weeks of games like this every season.

Or are you referring to the poor luck of having to face Wainwright and Carpenter?

Well when its all said and done itll be more like 3 weeks (Arizona, Colorado, San Diego, San Fransico, St. Louis, Philly, thats like 1/2 the NL haha).

I like the pitchers we have lined up so hopefully we take 2 of 3.

I saw some Cardinals on a tree across from my window at work today. I'm sure they were taunting me. I have a bad feeling about this one..
