The unthinkable happens: Buck, Bautista and Wells in ASG

Not unthinkable now, but coming into this year I can't imagine that anyone expected two career fringe starters and a guy with an 88 OPS+ last year to make the roster. Then again, we should've expected it with Wells...it is an even-numbered year.
Commence complaining that Gonzalez was snubbed.

I remember starting a thread before the season began about how Aaron Hill would disappoint. Didnt think he would struggle this much. Lind has been a disappointment too.
Im happy for Bautista and Buck. Wells seems to have eased the pressure on himself as well. Hopefully the fans dont boo him at home anymore.

Can't believe Votto got left off. Everyone better vote for him in the fan vote-in, assuming it happens.
3 Cheers for no Rios and hearing the stories that would surely come up linking us to him!

Rios should have made it, but I'm not complaining. I'm glad Bautista got named in what will probably be his only opportunity to go, and I'm sure he won't pass up the HR derby if invited.
Romero arguably should have made it too, but yesterday's start may have ruined him in that regard.

Votto left off is a crime. He is one of the 5 or so best hitters in baseball right now.

Hopefully Votto get voted in...the man is having a killer year.
Too bad for Gonzo...he's already ahead of his stats in the past seasons. Also good news with trade value for Bautista and Buck

Nice, hopefully this increases Buck's trade value so we can get some good prospects in return and JP Arencibia up to the show.

Bautista not sure about HR Derby: "I've got mixed feelings about it so far." Says his BP is more line drives. Would need to alter swing.

Yeah, I read that earlier. Still don't think he'll pass up the opportunity of it.

Well obviously he deserved to make it, and even though he didn't it's still abundantly clear that it was a terrible move to let him go for nothing.

I laughed when I saw that Bautista and Buck were on the reserve squad. Who knew...

Joey Votto has been the best hitter in the national league by quite a margin, this entire thing is a farce, joey should be starting at first base over Pujols.

I figure Gonzalez is next in line should Jeter or Andrus need to pull out. Jeter is the obvious starter and Andrus is having a nice season, so I don't think Gonzalez was snubbed or anything.
It's nice to see Buck make the team. His numbers could argue that Buck has been the best catcher in the league this year.
I thought Shin Soo Choo would make the team, but he was just put on the DL anyways, so I guess it doesn't matter much.
Joey Votto certainly got snubbed. But that's what happens, in both leagues, playing the 1B position. Kevin Youkilis and Paul Konerko have to battle it out for the final spot in the AL too, and I think both are having all-star seasons. Same with Adrian Gonzalez.

Buchholz is going to the DL...wonder if Ricky might have a shot at replacing him.

A name guy like F-Her (much better than King Felix) or Verlander probably jumps in. Who picks injury replacements, the mangers or Selig? If it's Girardi, he goes with Pettitte. The AL pitchers list is ridiculous. Carmona and Cahill definitely don't deserve it and Buchholz, Price, CC, and Hughes have been good but they shouldn't be in ahead of RR Cool Jay.

Injury replacements come from the players' ballot, and Pettitte was next on the list, so he got the spot.

Bautista should just leave the HRD alone. He should learn from Rios. If he needs to alter his swing then he shouldn't even bother.
