Travis Snider To Be Recalled Today?

Post#1 » by LBJSeizedMyID » Fri Jul 30, 2010 2:59 pm

With AA saying on the Fan yesterday that Snider will be recalled today, does this mean a trade of either Bautista, Overbay or Encarnacion is imminent? I'm sure you're not calling up your top prospect to not play everyday.

I got a feeling he'll be platooned n RF.

vs Left handed
RF- Bautista, 3B- Encarnacion

vs Right handed
RF- Snider, 3B- Bautista

See that's where I'll argue. Bautista has shown that he's much too valuable at RF to take him out. Bautista prevents runs, and runners from taking that extra base. If you take Snider and put him in LF, then you take out your leadoff hitter.

I'm guessing Bautista will move to 3rd and Encarnacion to the bench.

I wouldn't say this move means that a trade is imminent but I wouldn't be suprised if Bautista or Overbay is traded either.

On what basis? Am I to assume you're saying we called up Travis Snider for the occasional spot start then?

Snider should play left field everyday Lind at 1B/DH lewis 4th OF/DH Overbay 1B/DH with the odd JoBau start at 3B Esco leading off when Fred Lewis is sitting.

It's about time.

A platoon would be a mistake. We expect him to be a key masher for us for years to come, so let's accelerate his development as much as possible.

I would rotate Lewis/Overbay/Encarnacion/Bautista around before sitting Snider.

I think that Lewis is going to have to go to DH and Lind to 1B to accomodate Snider. It's too bad for Overbay but that's the way it is.

I really like Lewis but the defensive potential of Snider/Wells Bautista is just way too good to pass up. Even though he can play it, there's no way we can let Bautista out of RF. His arm is just too strong and teams are going to stop trying to stretch to 3rd on us.

To me this is the real reason that we moved Wallace- to keep our leadoff hitter in place and let Snider get regular PT.
