http://baseball.realgm.com/src_wiretap_archives/21190/20100806/five_teams_pursued_wandy_rodriguez/The Twins, Reds, Mets, Dodgers and even the Blue Jays tried to swoop in and deal for Wandy Rodriguez on Saturday. But the Astros never seriously entertained trading him.
Wandy had a great year last year, but this year not so much...
he is another lefty tosser just like all the other ones we have in our rotation...
wonder wats the deal....?
at 31 how does he fit in our rebuilding plan???

Lefties with high K/9 are always valuable and he has been very unlucky this year. I guess they were seeing if they could buy low?

I dunno how great of a fit he would of been. Plus we prob weren't offering anything crazy for him.

AA is the king of buy low. I expect he'll be in on many players in similar situations regardless of fit. Take a risk if it doesn't cost too much a hopefully find yourself with a valuable asset.
I like it.

I like Wandy Rodriguez quite a bit, but I don't know if the Jays need another lefty.

Jays felt like they needed a veteran starter for this squad. Nothing wrong with that. Probably also meant that they were ready to demote Litsch before the news or already knew the news. If Wandy came back to form next year, another trading chip.

extra pitchers eh... the Giants DFAed Denny Bautista - the Jays should pick him up and turn him into a pitching beast
