Wells dislocated toe on catch; status unknown

Ouch...can't see him being able to play center nor plant properly to swing for a little bit having dislocated his toe. Guessing that he goes to the DL; logically, you'd think that Lewis would then start in center, but chances are this means a hefty dose of Wise.

I would like to see them play Lewis at CF in the interim. This is really going to hurt our chances to get back in the race if Vernon can't play for a few weeks. I can't believe I'm saying that in August.

I guess. My "eek" was the fact that there is any thought we could legitimately been in the race.

^^^
I think most people are realistic about the Jays chances.
But even a slight hope makes the rest of the season alot more exciting

I don't see Lewis as a CF.

If you're a follower of defensive metrics, Lewis should be capable at center. I myself can't remember him playing much at center however, so I guess we'll see. Depends what you need. Defense, you want Wise in there and he's a left handed bat, so maybe he'll get the bulk of starts.

Just play Lewis in CF if it will get Snider more ABs.

The Jays aren't making the playoffs, so why worry about the defensive ramifications of that?

He will have x-rays done on Monday, and if it was only a dislocation and no other damage, then he will be day to day.

(sorry i read that a while ago and can't find the link at the moment)

Are you kidding? There is a higher chance of the Jays signing Barry Bonds to play CF than calling up Anthony Gose.

I'd rather have Snider in AAA than splitting time with Fred Lewis.

A call up i would love to see on the big league is Darin Mastroianni, i know he's only playing in double A now and not exactly lighting it up so its very unlikely we will see him anytime soon but i would give him a chance to shine.. He's got great speed and a good baserunnner (37 steals). He is somewhat of a disaster in terms of power might but is able to get on base at an average to above average rate (he does have an OBP of over 400 on the New Hampshire team)... If anything he could just pinch run for some of the fat asses we have on the team..

Its not like he's a young kid that we can go slow on in terms of his development, i think he's 24-25 , i'm not sure

It's not really a shock with Wells getting hurt. He plays a good CF but is quite nimble whenever he runs full out for a ball or runs down the line to first and even more so when he tries for a double. A bit soft in my opinion. He always has a grimmace on his face. I hope he is ok and doesn't miss any time. He has had an allright season.
