Lewis not happy.

Post#1 » by SargentBargs101 » Thu Aug 12, 2010 8:58 pm

From Lott:

Lewis no fan of sitting and/or DHing: "To see my name not in the lineup some days, I mean, it’s mind-boggling."

Let' see what cito does now.

Of course he's pissed. He's hit well all season and has really done nothing to deserve the bench.

But Snider is a better player and as long as Overbay is still here, the bench is where Fred should stay.

Overbay is the issue. Cito is being forced to rotate Snider, Lewis, Encarnacion, and Overbay in the lineup because of a logjam of bats. A .751 OPS 1B on the last year of an unmovable contract (i.e. even if/when he's traded the Jays will suck up all of his remaining salary) is forcing the manager to rotate guys that are not only outperforming Overbay but are also under team control past 2010.

Solution: release Overbay. The team is already stuck with his contract and no team is going to give up a better than C rated prospect for him. Cut your losses, play Lewis/Snider/EE everyday, and move on.

Sorry Fred, but the stud 22-yr prospect that's putting up an .825 OPS (and even better since he was recalled) should get playing time over you.

And please, quit your whining. If I wanted to hear whining, I'd be reading the NBA/Raptors news.

Honestly, not a good move by Fred. A decent player that was basically stolen by AA from San Fran, but no guarantees he's back next year as a regular. In fact, his best shot to return is as a 4th outfielder. He's not helping his chances with an attitude like that.
Nick Nurse recounting his first meeting with Kawhi:
“We could have gone forever. (Raptors management) kept knocking on the door and I was like, ‘A couple more minutes.’ Because we were really into it."

I don't actually blame him in this situation.

Being sat for DeWayne Wise is mind boggling!

The way he has played all year, he deserves to play. Wise should not be starting in place of him.

If he split time only with Snider, then it would be a different story. But Wise should not be starting.

DeWayne Wise is a much better fielder than Lewis, so I can understand Cito's motivation in putting him out there.

after watching him roam centerfield the other day he should thank his lucky stars that he's even a regular in a MLB team. He doesn't hit well enough for a corner outfielder, his OBP skills aren't as good as advertised, his defence is a joke and his arm is indescribably weak. He's not a bad player but not a guy who should play everyday in the American League East, he might be okay in the AAAA National league though

even if he has a legit cause to be upset, this is hardly the best way to go about it.

Hopefully when E5 is gone, Beast can move back to 3rd and there will be more spots open in the outfield. I do believe Lewis is a good asset to the team and they should keep him around. Hopefully this was just something said out of frustration and not something reflecting of his overall attitude.

It's not mind boggling to anyone else. He's done a great job but there is a lot of really good young talent on this team that needs playing time.

Lewis is batting .271 and strikes out a ton. Not a consistent hitter either. He should be thankful he's in the majors. Just accept that 4th OF spot and like it.

I don't think he's saying he's better than Snider, but maybe thinking why not move J-Bizzle to third and sit Encarnacion or to first and sit Lyle.

I'd agree with him when Wise is starting over Lewis, but I don't have any problem with Snider, Wells, Bautista or Lind starting over him. I wouldn't mind much if Encarnacion is benched for Lewis, but I do prefer Bautista in RF rather than 3rd, so whatever.

But Lewis shouldn't be in a position to complain. He was technically brought in early in the season to be a 4th OF anyways, it was just his luck that Snider got injured when he arrived. Plus, he was essentially traded for $75,000... that should keep him a little modest, lol.
Good Lord, the little stoner's got a point.
