Blue Jays outfielder Fred Lewis will undergo season-ending surgery to remove a bunion from his left foot.

Lewis left the team Thursday. No date for the surgery was announced.

Acquired from San Francisco in April, Lewis hit .262 with eight homers and 36 RBIs in 110 games with Toronto.

Lewis missed several games in May because of the bunion, the same problem that required season-ending surgery in September, 2008.

lewis started out great for the team as the consistent lead off man. but he slowly faded away

snider is not a lead off man, i'd like to see escobar batting first and encourage him to steal some bases. i'm really surprised for such an athletic guy, he hardly steals any bases
