I'll miss that half a year with the 'stache.
Otherwise GTFO

Indeed, and he's a great fit on the Cards staff in that regard, alongside Wainwright (6'7"), Carpenter (6'6") and Mitchell Boggs (6'4"). If they hold any position players vs. pitchers basketball games, he will surely help.

If only baseball was played in November... He would have a killer Mo after 30 days.
He will be missed by me, but not really for his on field product, his style was awesome.

Starting Tallet ruined his career and likely cost him a lot of money. From 2006-08, he had a 3.38 ERA in 173 innings (131 ERA+, 7.6 H/9, 7.2 K/9). Decent 2nd lefty out of the pen, which depending on the market, has pretty good value around the league. Then he was converted to a starter, and bombs away. He should not have been starting at all, his stuff is not good enough.
Knowing STL's ability to turn pitchers into gold, Tallet will probably start and put up great numbers for them. Cito would feel vindicated.

So Tallet is the first to go, next is Frasor then Downs. Were gonna need some relief pitching this season.

Do we get a pick for this signing and if so, what is it?

Tallet was not a free agent, he was arbitration eligible. The Jays did not want to tender him a contract for 2011, so no compensation for him signing elsewhere. Tallet probably wouldn't have qualified for Type B status anyway given how bad he was in 2009-10.

He was so bad last year. In my office we all called him Gas Can since he was always throwing gas on the fire. You could see how mad the starters were when they left him inherited runners. It was just understood that he was going to get those runners home.
He used to be decent, but I think they just burned his arm out completely last year. Maybe he'll bounce back with the inferior competition he'll face.

He had by far the worst WAR of ANY reliever in the majors and yet he was top 10 in IP. Incredible. May you be used judiciously in the NL.

2007 WAR: 1.0
2008 WAR: 0.7
2009 WAR: 1.7
2010 WAR: -1.5
Still a net positive despite his horrendous 2010, Tallet was a pretty useful pitcher for the Jays. I wouldn't be surprised if he bounced back in St. Louis.

a patient was in my pharmacy. 16 years old, pitcher, tosses 85 mph, looking at US scholarships.
i gave him a "look at Tallet's face before you decide to party too hard while playing college ball" speech.
See ya, Tallet
