Shaun Marcum Traded to the Brewers for Brett Lawrie

Post#1 » by The Flying Gent » Mon Dec 6, 2010 2:06 am

http://www.jsonline.com/blogs/sports/111358854.html

#Brewers will trade IF prospect Brett Lawrie to #Toronto for SP Shaun Marcum pending physicals. #MLB

Other prospects could possibly be on the way back as well.

This is kind of baffling, especially considering that there are rumblings of us wanting to contend now. Greinke trade incoming, perhaps?

Wow. Was not expecting this at all.

Let's see who is coming back. It might be leading to a Greinke deal, but who knows.

Very surprising move.

Our beat writer is saying pitching prospects but doesn't know which ones.

Interesting... And I'm not opposed to it. Shows that AA isn't unreasonably attached to these guys (like a BC has been in the past) and is willing to move guys if the price is right. Could also be a precursor to other moves pending what we receive in return.

a trade for a guy like Grienke, Upton, or Gonzales must be coming.. this doesnt make sense to me unless they really want to open a spot in the rotation for Drabek

Whoa. We knew Marcum would be shopped and the Brewers have been desperate for pitching so it's not that out of the blue. I don't know of any prime prospects on the Brewers other than Lawrie so I don't know how I feel about this at the moment. Marcum has 2 more years of arby left so he has quite a bit of value. I will miss Marcum a lot.

Wow, we better be getting Greinke now. Regardless if we do get Greinke or not. I think we should of kept Marcum.

I have no idea who WiscoSportsTalk is. Our beat writer is hearing pitching prospects, I'll trust him for now.

He was drafted right above us by the Canadian front office duo of Melvin and Ash in Milwaukee. He was drafted as a catcher but it was understood he'd probably end up somewhere else. The last I heard, he wasn't doing well at 2B so he'd be moved to 3B. Someone update if there's more info on that.

BTW, if this is just for pitchers, **** that.
