Well done guys, thanks for turning this into such an active place to talk Blue Jays baseball. I hope we can do another promotion with signatures again at the start of this upcoming season.
If you ever have an idea to make this place better and more active please let one of the Mods know. We are always open to ideas.
Think we can take the top spot by the end of the season?

Two seasons ago we were basically tied with Seattle, last season we were neck and neck with the Yankees in posts.
We past both with ease after you guys started to promote the forum.

I came to this board through the raps forum, but i now find my self coming here first than to the raps. The raptors forum is getting a bit tiresome with all the individual player bashing and the same guys beating the same horses with the same sticks. When we do get a discussion going here it it is alot more intresting and sticks to the topics a bit more with no one turning it into a bargnani is bum or a down with derozen thread. Maybe we are just a bit more older over here.

Agreed, the size of this board right now is near perfect for discussions. If someone is trolling it tends to stick out. The raptors board needs like 500 Mods.

totally agree, I find myself coming to the Jays board first (even though it's relatively slow in terms of content compared to the Raps board). I find the discussions here far more interesting, and it's a great community..

i remember when breaking news happens, you'd post a link on the raps board pointing back here, so that's awesome..
i wonder why this board is far more busier than the leafs board.. could there may be some animosity towards hockey due to all the ridiculous coverage it gets compared to raps?

Couple points
with out a doubt the mods on this board would have to take most of the credit for building this forum up to be as good as some of us seem to think it is. Oz for continuing to keep digging up articles and stories to keep the quality up , and fraud for keeping the threads going with his "behind the scenes info"(not sure what kind of job he has to how he stays so updated) comments.
stickying the right threads, like the prospect thread goes a long way in keeping alot of us coming back and peeking our intrest and excitment with the jays. I go on the official TO Jays form abit but it isnt much different than the realgm raps form with alot of traffic and we all know what comes with that.
As far as the leafs go.....maybe alot of people like myself are not from the GTA so we are not bound to the leafs,we have other options, different than the Jays or Raps who are the only gig in town (Canada) so their followers might be a bit more nation wide. And besides it is probably hard to get excited about the leafs and their play off runs of late isnt it.

Great to see more people being active on this board. We should gain more posts when Tsherkin and Randle come out of hibernation.
I don't think we can catch the Brewers board though in terms of posts. They have long game threads for every single game.

I'd prefer the discussion topics to be more organic. I know Ozzy's intent is right, but we don't need individual threads for minor fluff pieces. Maybe there should be one running thread for stuff like that. I also don't think we need sticky threads for the bullpen and rotation and stuff like that. Let it come naturally. Otherwise I love this board. Perfect amount of posters and everyone has something interesting to add.

This is a good board with good posters. There are a lot of posters here who know tons about baseball and could probably obliterate most arguments I make but they are never condescending. Nice mix of people here...

To echo what others have said, coming to the Jays board is a nice bit of relief from some of the non-sensical stuff that happens on the Raps' board. I actually joined realgm for the raptors forum but after a few years, I just couldn't handle it anymore, so I went over to the media lounge. Unfortunately, that one died down a little bit so I eventually shifted over to mostly using the General Off-topic board.
When they first launched the "other 3 sports" boards, I was pumped but they just didn't live up to my expectations (I thought everyone else was going to be eager to use them). I remember coming to the Jays board and seeing very few posts. I tried participating but it was hard to get motivated to see my own posts 3 days lter. When I redicovered the forum last year, I was floored by how much better it was. And while the campaign to post Jays related topics in the Raptors forum might have annoyed some, I think it gained the forum pretty good exposure.
As for ideas to expand the forum, maybe we can get someone skilled at making signatures to make some specific to this forum.
ie, "The Jays Forum: where beating a dead horse is frowned upon" (I put 5.7 seconds into thinking about that one, but I'm sure someone here is much better than me at thinking these things up) or "The Jays Forum: The only Toronto forum where hope still lives". They don't need to be smart or even funny: "Like smart, informative sports talk? Visit the Jays forum". Or you can play on the culture of hatred on the Raps board and do things like have cross promotion. i.e., "Hate Kleiza? We do to. -- The Jays Forum". It doesn't need to make sense, it just needs to say "JAYS FORUM" as clearly as possible.
I think the forum itself is quite solid and doesn't require any tweaking. It just needs a tiny increase in membership.

I'll add that some of the intentionally funniest things I've read on RealGM come from this board.
As the Jays get better, the membership will surely increase, with a lot of fairweathers and casual Toronto sports fans hopping the wagon, so I am a bit proud to have posted on this board the past few seasons. From all the homosexual innuendos to the bastardization of any given surname to the shared dismay of blowing a 3 run lead in the 9th, this board is a pretty sick place to talk Blue Jays baseball. Good show, dudes.

this forum shows up in the top 5 in a search for "blue jays forum", i don't think we were even in the top 2 pages a year ago. Prosportsdaily is the only other decent Jays forum out there, everything else is either too small or is filled with too many trolls like the Raptors forum.

Mike Hunt, please keep posting on the ML board. The state of discussion over there is woeful; they rarely go into anything more meaningful than "I liked this/I didn't like this" and people who do are shouted down.

Ozzy/Yogi should do the same thing for the Leafs board...

I can understand that and I will cut back once the season starts, but in the off season I figure it does no harm.
Lumping it all in one thread means some things could be missed and it makes the forum look a lot less active. Plus you never really know what type of thread will peak someones interest. I didn't think the article on José Bautista playing third would generate much of a discussion but it has.
I'm not going to post more than 3 or 4 threads when it's slow anyway, so I don't see the harm knowing that everyone will see the news this way.
