A guy I know is at this meeting tonight...AA is speaking, along with Alomar, with questions from the fans being answered.

Some of his tweets tonight have included; http://twitter.com/georgekouvalis

Quote of the night "Alex is a work-alcoholic" - Robbie Alomar

Some money saved on the Vernon deal will be going back into player development. international signings and farm system #mlb #jays #toronto

"Can we sign a Vladdy Guerrero this year?" - fan

AA Respone condensed - we don't want to sign free agents that will take away playing time for up and comers

Beeston saying that mlb has looked into expanding playoffs. #mlb #postseason

Other messages I've seen from the meeting

AA: "From a negotiating standpoint, your word is paramount. We're not going to break that commitment. Our word is part of our brand."

Beeston: "We are in a market that should be able to have a $140 or $150 million dollar" (payroll)

AA: "We really don't want to get in the way of @jparencibia9. He can't get better in Triple-A."

AA: "The same way Jose broke out, we think Edwin - if he gets 500 or 600 ABs - can have a breakout season."

AA: "We have talked about acquiring a 3B, nothing pressing, but we're not putting it to bed." Says anything can change w/ 1 phone call

AA: "We feel we acquired what we needed and what works for us."

Farrell: "We can't sit back and wait for the home run." Says he wants more speed, and unpredictability, on the base paths

Farrell says Morrow will pitch 20-25 more innings this season. "The thing we have to monitor every night is the stress on pitchers."

Shi Davidi who's quickly becoming my favourite baseball writer in the country already has a piece out on the state of the franchise.

Toronto Blue Jays season-ticket holders gave general manager Alex Anthopoulos's winter performance a ringing endorsement during the club's annual State of the Franchise gathering Thursday night.

Despite trading away all-star centre-fielder Vernon Wells(notes) primarily for financial flexibility in coming years, and dealing 2010 opening day starter Shaun Marcum(notes) for Canadian infield prospect Brett Lawrie, a group of about 500 fans largely approved the team's direction and focus on the long-term.

thanks for the link.. my favorite quote:

"What we won't do is short cut," he told fans, "because once we get it there, it will be a freight train and it's not going to stop."

Too awesome.. he really does have a direction, and sticking to it.

John Farrel on the Fan.

Mainly talks about where he is living, and blows some hot air about player development.
