Blue Jays Interested In Trading Juan Rivera

Post#1 » by nnnwt » Wed Feb 9, 2011 2:18 am

Nothing significant, and I'm sure we all already knew this, but now there appears to be concrete evidence... sort of? Not sure how dependable this is, but just to be safe...

The Blue Jays would like to trade Juan Rivera, whom they acquired from the Angels in the Vernon Wells swap, writes Ken Rosenthal of FOXSports.com.

EDIT: This looks better..

They also would like to trade the other half of their return, outfielder Juan Rivera, major-league sources say.

Rivera’s middle name ought to be “available.” The Angels finally dumped him by including him in the Wells trade. The Blue Jays took on Rivera’s $5.25 million salary as part of the price for moving Wells. But Rivera, a potential free agent, is not in the team’s long-range plans.

Hopefully they could trade him for another guy to compete for the closer's role.

Hahaha. I don't think hanging on to him for this season would be a bad thing. I think he can more then make up for Wells' offense. Prob not last year Wells' numbers but still.

He's got a manageable salary but not many teams would be a fit other then the Orioles, Dodgers and Marlins

Maybe AA could work his magic and package him for Sizemore.

SS- Escobar(R)
3B- Bautista (R)
DH- Lind (L)
2B- Hill (R)
RF- Snider (L)
CF- Sizemore (S)
C- Arencibia (R)
1B- Encarnacion (R)

I'm interested in sleeping with Elisha Cuthbert...

Oh, I'm sorry...I thought this thread was about stating the obvious

I'd be very disappointed to see AA part with the assets it would require to land Sizemore...

He reminds me of Carlos Beltran...in more ways than one

Moving Rivera for an equally paid short-term 3B would be ideal. Someone like Casey Blake, maybe. I doubt the Jays will get any value for him though.

Casey Blake for Rivera would make sense for both teams, but would require AA tacking on more salary which might not be what he wants, although the main priority might be to make sure Bautista starts at right field.

I guess Jose has 'asked' to play RF.

Its a waste of his good arm to play third base. I don't know how many solid outfield assist plays I saw from him.
