He says he appreciates how AA handled things.
He is critical of how Texas is handling Young's trade request and states;
"I dealt with it in-house, which was the right way to do things. He's having to deal with it, unfortunately, publicly," Wells said.
So does that mean Wells requested to be traded?!

I don't think it means he requested it, frankly I doubt he did because he's always struck me as enough of a pragmatist to know such a request wouldn't get him very far.
I think he meant that he was kept apprised of the LAA situation and asked if he'd be okay with the trade as it developed and he appreciated that AA didn't let trade talks become public before it was completed.
I could be wrong, but that's how I interpret it.
Of course, it's so ludicrous to put the two deals in the same context. I'm sure AA wanted the papers signed before anyone heard a word so LAA didn't have a chance to read the articles and back out, but I seem to remember plenty of juice and innuendo out there when Halladay was being shopped.
I don't know how much comes from the internal part of a club, but you can't know that for Young either. Just saying I wouldn't give AA too much credit for being classy or lambast TEX too much for shopping in public on this one. There are times when the media is a tool and times when it's a hindrance and I think any GM worth anything plays that game.

He meant that the Jays didn't go public with all of this. When the deal happened, it was so surprising because we didn't hear anything about it previously.

but he said "I dealt with it in-house" not the Jays handled it in house
I'm sure it's nothing but it wouldn't surprise me if he wanted to be traded...maybe not demanded...but told AA he would be okay with a change of scenery

He would have to have some kinda balls to request a trade with that atrocity of a contract.

No one with what was considered the worst contract in MLB demands or even asks for a trade. He's talking about the discretion with which the whole thing was handled in contrast to the way the Rangers handled it.
