Blue Jays announce they've placed Jesse Carlson on the 60-day DL to make room for Nix on the 40-man roster.

Meh... i guess he's a slight upgrade over McCoy.

Nix was a one time prospect for the Rockies I believe, and has shown some power/speed potential. If he gets playing time, he could surprise. Low risk, high reward.

Well CBS.com has Patterson as expected to start the year on the DL so Nix might be slotting into the 4th OF spot instead of McCoy's spot, at least until Patterson's back.
I don't really know, just saying I'm not 100% convinced this is automatically McCoy's spot. Is Podsednik still in the running? I'd imagine a guy like McCoy or Nix could spot fill LF alright as utility types so maybe they both make it, but I'd imagine Patterson has the edge of them 'cause he's the only one who can back-up CF. God, I hope Davis is good and healthy this year.
