Why Is Farrell Continuing to Play Encarnacion at 3B??

When we resigned Edwin Encarnacion on the offseason, wasn't it so that he could focus is bat at the DH spot and play that position along with 1B?? Why would we play a guy at 3B who lead the league last year with errors at 18 in only 90 or so games start this year at the position when he didn't even play that position in spring training? Anyone else noticed how unconfortable Encarnacion looks out there ? He's better off playing the DH position where his bat somehow looks lightyears better then it does when we have him starting at 3B. Anyone have any thoughts as to why Farrell whom I like would play him there ?

Farrell isn't continuing to play him there...he has made EE the teams DH hitter now. He was just hurt the last two games
http://sports.nationalpost.com/2011/04/20/riveras-quiet-bat-costing-him-playing-timeIn time, Encarnacion became the DH and Jayson Nix the third baseman. Farrell says he thinks Encarnacion is “more comfortable” as DH, where he was batting .385 in 26 at-bats entering Wednesday night’s game, compared with his .174 mark when he plays in the field.

Hey MGD24, I guess you don't recognize me in our fantasy league loool, Take a guess. What I wanted to know is what was the thought process put into him starting Encarnacion at 3B when he didn't even play him there regularly in spring training. We signed Encarnacion for his bat this season and not for his fielding skills loool which is lack there of.

Juan Rivera needs to boost his trade value (hasn't happened so far)
Let Bautista play to his strength (and preference)
Occupy third base until Lawrie is called up.
They probably didn't foresee Lawrie being this close to being so major-league ready when Spring Training started. But his good play probably made the team keep Encarnacion at third for the time being until he is called up. After that, I would imagine Rivera would be glued to the bench. But witnessing management's affinity to keep scrubby players around, he just might become player with the most at-bats.
Regardess...
I want Rivera gone...so Encarnacion can become full-time DH and Lawrie become full-time 3B.

re-read the article I posted and it will explain why EE was placed there until Nix came.

The article doesn't say who's our starting 3B is until Lawrie is called up.

are you kidding me? It even says it in the quote I posted! It's Nix.
And since Nix is hurt it will probably be a combination of McDonald/McCoy/EE.

It doesn't say he's the starting 3B from here on out. It just says that Encarnacion is being moved from 3B to DH and Nix will play 3B. It doesn't say that Nix will play 3B everyday till the day Lawrie gets called up. That's the point that I'm trying to bring across. Nix is just a stopgap guy playing 2B/3B .

Giving E5 some time at 3rd so he can make spot starts there is probably still a good idea the more versatility the better. A guy who can play 1st a little 3rd and mash LHers is pretty useful

He actually isn't, but I wish he would. Without E5 at 3rd base, this team's offense can be pretty bad.

Agreed, that's the real question: why is he choosing to play random scrubs like Chris Woodward at 3B rather than Encarnacion? It's absurd.

Shut the f up!!
Woodward is awesome! Heard that he and Patterson had a creepy eye staredown in the lockerroom before tonight's game. lasted 34 minutes. Escobar was reffing and broke down and cried. Bautista's 5 o'clock shadow actually turned the clock back 1 hr.
intense stuff.

Only reason he was ever in the lineup - Offense. People forget that.
