Rate the Blue Jays broadcast crew?

Post#1 » by LittleOzzy » Tue Apr 26, 2011 1:49 am

What do you think about the broadcast crew this season?

How do you feel about Buck? Do you like the addition of Gregg Zaun?

What about Jamie Campbell?

Buck is better than Jamie Campbell. Tabler is better than Rance. None of the four are what I'd term good.

Gregg Zaun's a dumbass, Jamie is meh in his current role, Buck Martinez is an ok play by play guy and Tabler's a moron.

Can't stand Buck. I dislike his voice, and I hate his ugly face and his horrible horrible hair.

Tabler, I don't mind, don't hate. He has a nice voice and good delivery but isn't as astute as some others

Rance is far and away the most knowledgeable, but he has the worst voice and the least amount of experience which often leads to awkward silence or weird interuptions.

Zaun is actually incrediably knowledgeable and astute. Very bright guy, has picked up on the television side pretty fast as well. His issue, is that sportsnet just doesn't use him to his capacity... but don't even get me started on that...

I didn't mind Jaime. He had a average voice, and good delivery. Some people really hated his dumb downed version of broadcasting, and i can see that, but for me, that didn't bother me that much. I'm in the minority, but I'd take Jaime over Buck any day of the week.

Tabler's the opposite of what toronto needs.
he's a good ol' southern US boy who talks slowly and drawlsssss his info. and its not like he's producing any gems.
he's like Leo on dope.

Buck is whatever. he does an ok job.

better question: what do people think of Ashby and Howarth? I really like Ashby. bloody good job.

Buck and Tabler say dumb things all the time, but so do most broadcasting crews. So they're OK.

Zaun is hilarious and brings at least some level of insight when he isn't speaking in complete cliches.

Jamie is fine in his current role, though I never had much of a problem with him as the PBP guy either.

Ashby is a great analyst, Howarth is a very good PBP guy (but I hate when he tries his hand at analysis).

Ashby is a boring version of Gregg Zaun, Howarth is a good PBP, probably the only competent baseball broadcaster.

I actually like buck, tabler and zaun. Used to totally hate campbell when he did pbp but now he is fine.

Can't believe some of you dislike Zaun. Hes awesome, adds some great insight/knowledge and always speaks his mind.

Whole broadcast is 100% better this year. Pregame and Postgame show every game, studio analysis (Zaun) and theres a sideline reporter every game now. And they actually use a pitch tracker this year (not enough though).

Props to Sportsnet.

Can't stand Jamie Campbell. The rest of them are bareable but nothing more than that.

I'm a big Zaun fan as well.. I especially really caught on to him when he made the cameo appearances during the playoffs. I really learned a lot, giving a lot of insight from the players POV.

I actually didn't mind Jamie Campbell. The way he called the Olympics made me like him even more.

I used to like Sam Cosentino. He gave you nuggets that were infinitely more interesting than the usual banter between the announcers (i.e., he'd actually show you the change a player had made to the way he gripped a changeup).

I like Buck a lot. I thought he'd be the colour guy but I'm ok with him in the PBP role.

Tabler is absolutely fine, though unspectacular. When he actually speaks of his mindframe when he used to play, he actually becomes better than most (i.e., How much he'd pay attention to the runner on first while at bat. What he was looking for at the plate in certain situations, etc.).

I don't think Zaun is as great as some make him out to be. 90% of what he says is really tired cliches. The rest is great but I'm not a fan of sifting through through all of that junk to get to it.

Lol, I can't stand Buck's nasally voice. Other than that, everything's cool.
