AA did something yay... He'd better get every single start vs righties and stay up for the rest of the season.
Also more callups/garbage removals need to happen.

That really does sound like a dread disease, doesn't it?

Didn't someone say that was the name of Dickie Thon's blood disorder?

Should've happened a while ago. I hope this means Davis goes to bench. Bring back Snider and Lawrie whenever they're ready, and it should be much more exciting watching games.

About **** time.
There is talk that this will push Bautista back to third base until Lawrie comes up, but the Jays really shouldn't disrespect their franchise player by asking him to change positions mid-season. Just put Patterson and Davis in a platoon in CF (or bench Juan Rivera against righties) and that solves the problem.

So much for that.

He apparently agreed to it, but he obviously wasn't going to decline if asked.
It's kind of a bush league decision, but whatever. The decision itself improves the team going forward (no more Nix!), but the Jays haven't cared about that for three months, why start caring now?

According to Stoeten on twitter they're going to play Thames in the OF and move Bautista back to third.

Was actually wondering if something like this would happen. With third base such an obvious hole and Bautista being able to handle third base, it really makes sense doesn't it?

Yeah, if we were trying to contend, win games, and put the best possible roster on the field, it would make a ton of sense. But turning our best player into a stopgap for a month or so at 3B in a lost season? I don't get it.
When Lawrie returns, the optics of a rookie pushing our best player off his position will also be pretty bad. Especially if Bautista is excelling at third (offensively, anyway, he's pretty weak defensively at 3rd).

I'm glad to have Thames back up. He should have stayed up in the first place. I really like him as a player.
This is really the only good news in Toronto sports today.

It could also be a tacit acknowledgment that Lawrie isn't going to be back any time soon.

No doubt that was a huge factor, but I always thought Lawrie wasn't going to be immediately recalled. A hand injury is going to take awhile to heal, not to mention take awhile to get your timing and power back.
Not sure why you think it's a bush league move, Randall. What are the other options for the Jays? Trade route? Who's available?
As much as I wanted Thames to stay in AAA, figured you'd be happy that Thames was recalled, albeit I'm sure you'd rather be at the expense of Rivera or Patterson.

The Jays don't have standards here. As they've showed over the last month in allowing the team to fall out of the race, they don't care what caliber of player is playing 3rd base for them this season. They could find and play plenty of replacement level in AAA who would do a better job than Jayson Nix. Why not do that instead of asking your star outfielder to change positions mid-season?
They also could have given E5 another shot, but that ship has apparently sailed.

More relieved than happy. Thames should have stayed when he was called up in the first place. And they can find more than enough AB for Thames without having to move Bautista.

Who would play third then?
