Glad to see us starting to get rid of the roster clutter. McCoy has a future with the team as a super utility backup infielder. I'm glad he's back for the balance of the season (maybe) with this move.

McCoy shouldn't have a future with the team, as while he plays multiple positions, he's below replacement level at all of them. Still glad to see Nix turfed.

Wilner (on fan 590 after game show) was saying that Snider could be up before the all-star break, if not, definately afterwards.

I wonder who's going to get the spot on the 40 man roster now that there's an opening.

That might be two...I thought they had an opening earlier when they DFA'ed Josh Roenicke?

Zach Steward took Roenicke's spot on the 40.

As much as I was anti-Nix, it's always unfortuante to see someone lose their job. Hopefully he clears waivers and can work on his offense in Las Vegas or New Hampshire. It's where he should have been all along, not sucking up valuable major league at-bats.

I think Mike McCoy is a pretty decent bench guy. Decent speed, passable defense at most positions, and a mediocre bat. I wouldn't be upset to see him as the 25th guy on the roster next year, taking McDonald's spot.

Nix cleared waivers -- quelle surprise -- and has accepted his demotion to Las Vegas.

Shocking. It's not like another MLB team was going to pick him up. He's a useful AAA player I'm sure.

IIRC, this was a player that AA targeted since last year to be a utility player..
