OT: Brian Wilson rocks spandex tuxedo at ESPYs

Channeling his outer penguin, Wilson (as you probably can see) showed up in a one-piece spandex tuxedo that had its own set of attached white gloves.

As for accessories, Wilson added a gold bow tie, custom socks sent to him by a fan and ... a walking stick? No, he's not the slightest bit strange, is he?

Wilson was funny interacting with pregame hosts Michelle Beadle and Colin Cowherd, who tried to match Wilson's Epic Beard by donning fake black beards themselves.

But the spandex tux blew their beard party away. Check the video while it lasts, and below read a transcription of Wilson's part, plus a mini photo montage:

Of course he did: Brian Wilson rocks spandex tuxedo at ESPYs"Well, I have a seal skin tuxedo suit with the orange — very appropriate — bow tie," Wilson said.

"It's a onesie, so it has built-in gloves that are a little dirty because I've been getting a little awkward here on the carpet.

"And I've got my cougar cane — my 'plus one' tonight.

He's trying to attract cougars with a cane? Is that what he's saying?

Wilson continued with his self-description:

"And the socks came in the fan mail from a San Francisco Giants fan," Wilson said. "You know who you are, thank you.

"It said: 'Enjoy.' That was the letter. And I'm currently enjoying them. Ninja socks."

I wish more athletes had such personalities! Wilson has a new biggest fan (not that I didn't love the beard previously).

Even weirder than the tux, for me, was the Q-Ray.... LOL.

Brian Wilson is a guy who's got his ions perfectly aligned!

He's an idiot. You just won the world series, and your catcher is running towards you to celebrate, but he's too busy doing that stupid ceremony of his own.

Oh wait, so he's an attention whore because he was wearing something funny at a media event while on the red-carpet being photographed by the media. Oh, well then I guess I should dislike him. Get a life. He's having fun, making light of a stupid event (ESPYs really?) and being slightly comical and interesting.

what obligation does he have to be there in the first place? While I understand his intention to be comical, it's not like he walked into the event in a spandex and thought 'oops, didn't realize all these camera's were gonna be here'. If he pulled this in the clubhouse or something to get a laugh out of his teammates I'd understand, but if voluntarily exposing yourself in front of mass media by acting like an idiot isn't attention whoring then I don't know what is.

I really don't get the hate. Firstly, I'm sure he was invited to the event (doesn't mean he's obligated but it isn't like he's crashing the party). Secondly, it's ok to do it to get a laugh out of teammates but not to get a laugh out of anyone else?

You guys seem unusually sensitive about this issue. And I still fail to see how this makes him an 'idiot'. Is this some deeper issue that I'm missing (his masculinity/sexuality is in question because of the spandex?).
