I don't know if it'll be Frasor, but I'm pretty sure that at least one or two relievers will end up being moved by the deadline. It's going to be fun to see how it plays out.

Hopefully we move Dotel, and Easy E.
Neither are gonna net us a Comp Pick, and neither are part of future going forward.
So if we can get a little something, that be great. Plus Edwin is starting to hit the ball pretty well lately.

I'm not sure anyone would give up what AA believes Frasor is worth.
Also, Dotel could well net a compensation pick - if they had a wink wink nudge nudge agreement regarding type B status.

Just curious, but what would the motivation be to move them? Clear up salary for next season? So you advocate a big free agent push? Trade them for second tier prospects? Because they won't net you any better.
There should be a plan in place. We shouldn't be selling "because that's what .500 teams in the AL East do".
So what is your rationale? Neither EE nor Fraser have contract obligations extending beyond next season and EE can be bought out of his for six figures. I'm not arguing they are important to keep, just that they aren't the worst trash on this roster right now. If we move them, it should be part of the plan, not just a salary dump.

FWIW, Dotel was still ranked as a Type B FA not too long ago. It might be hard to get better value than that for him on the trade market.

Dotel is pretty much a lock for Type B. He's borderline Type A, actually. Camp, Rauch, Francisco, Villanueva, and Janssen are also likely to finish as Type B, though the last 2 aren't FA eligible until 2013.

Cause they'll be free agents, and they won't be brought be back, so hopefully there is some form of prospect, even if not that great, that'll get us something for them.
That's the rationale.
It's like when the Raptors had Mike James in his contract year, like what's the point to keep him, we aren't bring him back, and he was a free agent...Now i'm not sayng they didn't try, maybe there were no takers during his semi good contract year with the raptors...but if there is some value for either of those two guys, they should be on boat the first thing smoking,

He's got a huge arbitration value, if we offer it, he'll accept for sure...

What, so if we can't move them for players that will help immediately, we should keep them for the remainder of the year and allow them to leave as free agents out of principle? That's silly; Encarnacion in particular isn't going to have a place on the team come next year...if we can salary-dump him and save even $1.5m and get back a nothing prospect, we should bloody well salary dump him, because he's playing below replacement level at the moment (not that this season matters, anyway), and we sure as hell aren't re-signing him in the off-season.

Maybe i'm wrong but if the compensation system currently in place for free agents were to become obsolete in the new CBA, wouldn't it have to take effect next offseason rather than this offseason since the current CBA doesn't expire until after arbitration deadlines(unless the arb deadline is a fluid date that changes every year, I don't recall). The compensation system certainly has an effect on the arbitration process and changing the model in the middle of the off season would seemingly piss off quite a few baseball executives.
I'm sure there's some definitive info on when changes in the CBA would take effect but I haven't found it. Maybe Type A and B will still be in place for the 2012 draft in which case keeping guys like Encarnacion in hopes of recouping a draft pick is more sound than trading him for scraps at the deadline.
Anyone have definitive information on this?

I would expect that the comp system will still be in place for this off-season, yeah. However, Encarnacion isn't likely to reach Type B status...we'd have to play him full-time and have him produce at a high level for the remainder of the season, and with Lawrie on the horizon, it's unlikely that he'll get the at-bats.

I don't think Encarnacion reaching type B is that unlikely. Kipnis is now up with Cleveland and he'll be splitting playing time with Cabrera according to Acta. With how terrible Cabrera has been(numbers are trending downward on the season), it wouldn't be surprising to see Cabrera completely lose his job. Could see Encarnacion jumping ahead of him. Omar Visquel isn't likely to match last year's ab's and probably won't surpass 210 on the year in addition to having an inferior 2011.
By no means a guarantee but I think he's got a ok chance.
The Lawrie situation definitely muddies the proposition but I wouldn't put it passed Anthopolous and Farrell to get creative with playing time.

Yeah, I just don't think that the creativity in playing time is worth it. With Lawrie, Snider and Thames on the team, some of those at-bats would have to come at their expense, and I don't know that chasing a pick is worth that.

I'm always torn when guy like Frasor comes up on trade rumors. He seems like a very humble guy from his interviews and likes being here, not to mention he's a serviceable player. It's not like he's net us a significant return, I'd rather see the team honor his royalty and let him play here as long as he's performing up to par.

What do we want from AZ? Getting rid of frasor gets rid of what we need: pitching. Despite a few holes in our lineup we have a really good offense. I don't and I think AA doesn't believe trading our best reliever helps us short or long term unless we get a crazy good prospect (which to me doesn't make much sense considering our already stacked farm system) in return. I just think that if we want to be contenders we need to unload prospects for MLB talent rather than the other way around. Ultimately I see AA listening to but probably not accepting offers for frasor.

Frasor is one of our better relievers and has been for years. He's also signed to a reasonable contract into next year. You don't just give him away, particularly if you have intentions of competing next year (which they definitely should have).
Encarnacion has not produced enough in his ~300 AB's this year to think twice about trading him. The team could use more, and more consistent, production from the DH slot.

you should be brushing up a little on what the Jays have been doing the last year +. What you're talking about is what was talked about during the whole JP era of Blue Jays baseball.
