Father of Colby, Tony Rasmus clears the air w/ Jeff Blair

Post#1 » by Lucky26 » Thu Jul 28, 2011 4:55 pm

I have a little ability to read people's tone and language while they're speaking, and imo, I think this had more to do with TLR covering his butt in St.Louis with the fans and media, to justify trading a potential superstar for what he really wanted, a starting pitcher.

Sure where there's smoke, there usually is a fire, but even Tony Rasmus said he learned a lot about media and it doesn't look like he will be talking bad about the Toronto coaches as he had nothing but good things to say about them.

Enjoy!

It's a bit odd to see a player's father doing media interviews like this, but I have no doubt that he's right about the soul-crusher LaRussa and the poor environment that Rasmus was playing in.

Thanks for posting this. It's good to hear Tony Rasmus' point of view after reading about the stuff said about him and Colby by La Russa.

On one hand what is stated in theinterview sounds like it should relieve concerns. But then the fact that the father is doing interviews, raises concerns . Not sure if this makes the "Tony" factor less or more of an issue,

The man was clearing the air for his son, that's it. If you see more of him, like on this forum talking trash like he supposedly did there, then raise the red flags.

Yeah, it was pretty funny when he described watching his son play in St. Louis to a funeral processin, TWICE!

It looks like Colby is gonna come in and tear it up. Added to that is he is hitting between two of the best hitters in the American League in Yunel and Joey. Plus, he is a second half player based on his first two years in the league.

Cool how he referenced "Travis" in Toronto without hesitating - seems pretty plugged in.

Same with the props to the hitting coach, despite him not knowing his name, he at least acknowledged him.

Well he's the one in question right? Blue Jays management wants to hear that the father won't have any business in the dugout and so do the fans. It's pretty much just to prove that everything TLR said was smoke.

Maybe the best response would have been not to talk to the media at all. I'm not too concerned regardless tho.
