Would we be talking about Ichiro approaching Pete Rose for the alltime hits, if he had been playing in MLB from the beginning of his career?
Ichiro has got 2400 hits right now. Prior to his arrival in MLB, he played 7+ seasons in Japan and totaled ~1300 hits. Lets cut that down to 1200 (in japan they play 135 odd games in a season so I'm probably being conservative in this converted figure).
That gives him 3600 hits (+ 50 odd hits for the remainder of this season). That leaves him 600 hits to catch Pete Rose.
Regardless I think He is going to be all time hits leader in professional baseball (MLB + Japan) by the time he is done (He will probably still get to 3000 MLB hits considering the physical shape he is in). Guy is awesome. My favourite Non Jays positional player.
Seriously we would have been talking about him as one of the all time great MLB players (top 10 for sure), not that he isn't already one of the all time great players.

Another thing:
Who would you rather have on your team Ichiro or Henderson?

I thnk he's one of the most over-rated hitters of this generation, to be honest. Prime example of why batting average is a useless statistic. He's currently ranked 54th in career OPS+ amongst active players, sandwiched between Aubrey Huff and Eric Chavez. He does get bonus points for being extremely durable, though.
