Determining rookie status:
A player shall be considered a rookie unless, during a previous season or seasons, he has (a) exceeded 130 at-bats or 50 innings pitched in the Major Leagues; or (b) accumulated more than 45 days on the active roster of a Major League club or clubs during the period of 25-player limit (excluding time in the military service and time on the disabled list).

He's going to pass both marks pretty easily.

The current crop of AL rookies kind of look pathetic apart from Jennings and Lawrie. While the sample size for those two players is very small, both players are already top 10 in HRs and a slew of other offensive categories despite each having well under 200 AB.

At this rate, Brett Lawrie is going to lead AL rookies in WAR by the end of the season.

His supposed lack of defense as well was false advertising!

Pineda has 3.0 War, Trumbo 2.3 WAR, Lawrie 2.1 WAR, and Jennings 2.0 WAR.

Too bad Lawrie got hurt when he did.

he will be a rookie next year.

Those number of at-bats are before the september call-up.

The qualification for at-bats is not prior to September.

He will not be a rookie next year.

Fine by me. The last thing we want is for Lawrie to follow the "Hinske" career-path.

Just say no to ROTY!
