Would be nice to take both games and help out Tampa. :) Would be pretty funny of Boston missed the playoffs.

Also would like to see Bautist have a crazy game, 2+ home runs. :)

I know he's getting old, but I didn't imagine that nearing the end of the season, his ERA and Wins would be so near to each other.

The Rays are only 3.5 games behind Boston and they're playing Baltimore next. I would be really happy if we could sweep Boston (with their 3 bad starters coming up) and see that lead get trimmed down to a game or less.

Plus I'd like to see us finish above last seasons totals and winning this series is essential in doing that.

His ERA is lower than last year. Wins is not a statistic that should be used to determine how good a pitcher is doing.

It's impressive that the Rays are so close to the Red Sox. The disparity in payroll is massive, and the gap was also rather large not too long ago. They could have easily played out the string.

I thought the Jays are a better team then the Rays entering the season. Shows you what I know. I'm also stubborn, in that I still think they are. Well, the players at least. In managing they completely outclass us, obviously.

Boston isn't missing the playoffs fellas. They have 7 games left against Baltmore.

Boston is winning the wild card.

and yes I agree we are the better team on paper than Tampa. Next year will be a different story imo.

The Jays are a better team than Tampa NOW with the addition or Lawrie, Thames, Alvarez, Rasmus and Johnson.

We were not better than the Rays to start the season when we had Juan Rivera, Corey Patterson, Rajai Davis and Aaron Hill regularly starting with Encarnacion starting at 3B and John Macdonald as our other regular 3b.

On the pitching end, their top 3/4 of Price, Shields, Hellickson and Davis has been far better than the Romero and Morrow + whoever is healthy we put out there from April to June.

But yes, next year there are high expectations.

Tampa has 3 games against the O's, 4 games against the Red Sox, 3 games against us, along with 7 games against the Yankees. WIth Tampa's pitching and a tons of injuries to the Sox lineup, I'm not sure the Rays should be ruled out just yet. They're only 3.5 back with just under 3 weeks left, it's going to be close.

I wouldn't count out the Rays yet. Especially with the Red Sox rotation falling apart.

I'm not sure the Jays (without any major signings this offseason) are a better team than TB. The Rays have the best pitching in the AL (and Matt Moore to add to the rotation next year).

It's interesting that not too long ago the Jays were just a few games behind the Rays, and some how managed to close the gap on the Sox. Schedule-wise, the Jays had an easy August and could have kept pace but didn't do as well as they should have.

I hope Molina catches for Morrow tonight and JPA is the DH. Righties hit better against Wakefield than lefties and I believe EE is still hurt as well as Escobar.

Morrow hasn't won a game when JPA catches for him IIRC.

That's a depressing line up.

I'm among the Cooper boosters on this board, and I know Farrell is probably trying to break up the righties, but I really have to question batting Cooper 5th BEFORE Lawrie.
