AA made the worst trade of the year in all of mlb

Post#1 » by Leolovinliberal » Thu Sep 29, 2011 4:43 am

On January 21, Napoli was traded to the Toronto Blue Jays along with outfielder Juan Rivera in exchange for outfielder Vernon Wells.[3] Four days later, he was traded by the Blue Jays to the Texas Rangers in exchange for pitcher Frank Francisco.[4]

AA's been great, but wow, what a stinking dog this trade was; worst in all of mlb. :banghead:

Napoli told AA he wasn't going to DH full-time. AA said the team was committed to J.P. at Catcher. Napoli then said he didn't want to play here.

That's why it went down.

this year of JPA's development will pay off later - when we contend. jpa + d'arnaud>>> napoli + stalled prospects/studs.

Dude, Napoli totally would have added the extra 10 wins we needed to make the playoffs. Nevermind not having a closer, or lacking the RP depth that allowed us to get Rasmus.

you cannot be serious, i was waiting for you to have "just joking" or "i'm kidding" even checked the calendar to ensure today wasn't april's fools.

As posted prior, Napoli was not going to DH full time, so that explains the trade. I agree it wasn't a popular deal even at the time, but you cannot be serious right now. Napoli on the Jays and we probably finish a couple games better or so at most.

So somehow you conclude that this lateral move (or slightly worse) of moving Napoli for Frank is worse than the trade that brought Napoli (briefly) to the Blue Jays first?

Sonrise always making negative threads... you even mentioned it in your post. Wasn't the worst trade of the year in MLB trading for Vernon Wells?

Is Napoli a FA at the end of this season? Uh.......as of now Rasmus as shown absolutely nothing to be hanging ones hat on; hopefully he turns it around, but that guy seems to have deeper issues.

Sorry, the worst trade was the Angels trading for Vernon Wells. Moving Napoli was bad, but stop trolling.

This.

And honestly if we would of dumped Wells for nothing I would of been happy, getting someone of value back was just icing on the cake for me.

I don't remember this is there a link? I thought AA did the trade just because he always liked Francisco.

I think up until last week, the Angels trade for Wells was the worst in the MLB, but then the Marlins just traded 2 players for Ozzie Guillen at something like 4 years/16mil....

You don't need a link. It makes perfect sense. Yes they could've gotten a better reliever perhaps, but this was as much a move to clear payroll as it was the need for a potential closer and allow JPA to develop.

Stop being such a drama queen and move on.

Hope getting Rasmus turns out well, although there's nobody I miss from that trade anyway.

But I think the main benefit was to implement AA's clear strategy loading up on RPs because the young starters couldn't be counted on to go deep. And AA was clearly right. The bullpen "saved" the early part of this season, before they exhausted themselves, or got traded or promoted to starter.

I saw the title of the thread, saw the creator of the thread and just laughed. Read the OP laughed even more, Sonrise is a complete "debbie downer" and just very dramatic, don't get sucked into this thread.
