Another sellout at AT&T Park in San Francisco, a fine showing at Petco Park in San Diego and a nice send-off at Sun Life Stadium in Florida.

In a season full of comebacks, Major League Baseball attendance also rallied.

Baseball's average attendance rose by about a per cent this year, ending three straight seasons of drops.

The 30 teams combined to average 30,229, STATS LLC said after the regular season ended Wednesday night. That was up from 30,067 last year, but remained nearly eight per cent below the record 32,785 set in 2007.

Toronto ranked 25th this season with average home attendance of 22,445, up 12 per cent from 20,068 last year.

"The resiliency of our sport never ceases to amaze," commissioner Bud Selig said in a statement.

The World Series-champion Giants sold out every home game this year and drew rousing ovations in their wrapup Wednesday. San Diego drew over 32,000 fans to Petco for the season finale against the Cubs while Florida attracted 34,615 in the final game at Sun Life before moving into a new ballpark next year.

If it wasn't for those games in April and May with 12000 fans our attendance would be a lot better. They got a lot of good crowds from June onwards.

Except for the Baltimore series in September. Those games were some of the lowest on the year.

Pleasantly surprised. I honestly thought we'd be last.
