These are both good moves by the team as expected. The interesting thing will be if they offer Rauch arbitration. He's still type B but he might actually accept arbitration and that would be scary.

Yeah, i wouldn't offer Rauch arbitration, he'll likely get 4M and he isn't worth that in my opinion.

EE had a very good "solid" year, compared the frustrating one previously..... at that price he is a bargain, but I wouldn't say his DH spot is safe and sealed.

If someone outplays him, he is out..... at that price AA can afford for him to be out too

Picking up EE option was a no brainer. The big question is will we offer Rauch arbitration? We could get a decent pick out of him but I have a feeling he'd accept then we'd be stuck with him for another year.

who would sign Jon Rauch as a type-B Free Agent?

............. no one is gonna give up picks for him after this season. He is the kinda guy u bring in for try outs and see if he wins a spot. Not sign him to a ridiculous salary which the arbitrator will give him, plus add drafts picks. remember, No one would even sniff at Jason Fraser after his decent season. giving up picks for relief pitchers is a different standard

Return to Toronto Blue Jays
