One, Pujols is hardly the only free agent on the list. Second, it doesn't mean a hell of a lot if he is meeting with the club about Pujols, save for the fact that we have interest. Lozano has already met with a couple teams...I'd imagine that he'd meet with any that made the slightest suggestion of wanting to sign him, because even if Pujols has no interest in that locale, it's leverage.

Nailed it on the head right here. I'd say theres is a 0.1242423% chance we sign Pujols.

If Rogers pays the dough necessary to sign Pujols, then I will buy every service Rogers offers....and I don't even live in Canada.

Bring back Hinske

I would have seriously said bring back Hinske a few years ago, but we have way too many guys that are similar to him now (Thames, Snider, Cooper, etc).

I'd like Beltran, though.

Out of that list, Beltran (OF/DH), Barajas (back-up catcher), and Cabrera (2B) make sense for the Jays. Of course Pujols does as well, but I'm trying to be realistic here.

I'd put it at less than 5% for Pujols. Seriously it's not going to happen.

Jimmy Rollins and Joey Votto are on the list. Votto is obviously under contract, but you never know what happens behind closed doors.

The Jimmy Rollins talks aren't going well by all reports, so maybe he's an option at 2B for us.

I can shrug off his agent coming to town but his "posse"? What does that mean? Doesn't that mean we're talking about Pujols?

More than likely as Schad said leverage for Pujols to visit a team with a low payroll to help him get as much money as possible, or perhaps AA had a talk with Prince Fielder's side as well and he's using it as leverage. Either way, not expecting a whole lot.

Some of you guys can be downers sometimes. Yes, it means very little and odds are that he will not sign here, but it is still better that they are visiting than not. Maybe it is just leverage but at least we put a call out expressing interest and they are here. We've all been pining for some sort of appearance of doing something significant and not sitting on our hands as always, and you guys poo-poo all over this.

Partially true. What FA have we courted? It's difficult to keep that under-wraps. Not to mention the fact that it has been pretty clear who AA has wanted in the past (Rasmus, Darvish come to mind).

I think people poo-poo because it's the Toronto fan's nature.

I'm also partially kidding. Free agency is very difficult to keep under wraps as agents will be using it for leverage against other teams. Only thing that can happen is a team coming in at the last minute and scoppoing him up. Most of the negativity stems from everyone just being cautiously negative to say "we knew it" when Pujols signs elsewhere.

But one can only dream.
