Is there something to this or are we going to get another fiscal lecture from AA?

Agent talk no doubt, we already have many OF's, Beltran isn't needed at this point. And if we were intertested in Him, we wouldn't have traded for a cheap Ben Francisco. Plus it seems that we're really tight on money this year.

I liked this line: "The Blue Jays' emergence as one of the clubs is noteworthy in that Toronto is in rebuilding mode" = CBS has no idea what they're talking about.

Anyway, I think Beltran was talked about in another area - not sure if this deserves its own thread, but what do I care.

If they aren't rebuilding, what they hell are they doing? Certainly not trying to contend.

Prior to the Ben Francisco trade, I wouldn't have minded going after Beltran on a short term deal if we lost out on/didn't go after Fielder or Darvish. I still wouldn't mind, but it seems even more farfetched at this point.

Building. Rebuilding would spell the end for a player like Bautista in Toronto. Geez, don't be so negative. :-?

What does Ben Francisco have to do with anything? We have four fringy left fielders; that doesn't preclude us from getting a good one. We have zilch invested in Francisco. Wouldn't be hard to dump him off to somebody else, same as Rajai. That's like saying my wallet is full of $1 bills so I'm not in the market for $20 bills.

Beltran would block both Snider and Thames...I think he makes less sense than the other free agent options. Agent talk.

It's all talk. CBS Sports could write an article stating "Carlos Beltan, Just Needs a Signature and It's Done" and I still wouldn't believe those crooks at Rogers. Until the crooks open up the cheque book, I believe nothing they have to say.

Beltran wouldn't necessarily be the everyday left fielder. He'd get a lot of starts at DH. I brought this up as a more viable signing than Fielder if it's a short term contract, but now that its been leaked, it's probably not a realistic possibility.

AA should charge a commission with all these rumours.
Organization can be defined as an organized body of people with a particular purpose. Not random.

Cardinals and Blue Jays appear to be the best fits for Carlos Beltran

How are we the best fit? We have so many left fielders already, with Bautista and Rasmus locked up in right and centre.

Any chance Beltran could move to first?

What do you mean? He can play the occasional left field, but he'd be primarily a DH.

He wouldn't come here to be the primarily DH.. He's made it clear that he doesn't want anything to do with that role.

Either way, there's still a fit. Just means Snider or Thames would shift over to DH. I still don't think it's happening though.

We don't have a DH spot open because management loves Encarnacion.

Yea this one is a head-scratcher. Definitely not a move you expect AA to make.

Can Carlos Beltran play 1B? That's the only way I see a Carlos Beltran signing making sense.

Our LF is occupied by two suspects, Thames and Snider, and our DH is occupied by EE. How is there not room for a very good hitter like Carlos Beltran?
