I know most people would have liked to add pieces through free agency; However, given the choice would you trade cant miss prospects for a sure thing in the majors right now?

Depends on the player and where the team is. Say the jays are in the race for a playoff spot, I would trade a cant miss prospect for a good player.

Trades are about value, I don't want to give up excess value just because what's coming back is 2012 value and what's going out is 2015 value. That being said I'm happy to move value forward if there's a fair deal to be made and I'd bet AA is too.

The text of your post is fine, but I have a hard time with the title, since trading has most definitely been the course so far. How many trades has AA made in two years? The guy wheels and deals and I expect it to continue.

The problem is, "can't miss" is a label to easy too bestow, especially on players who have not advanced beyond A ball yet. And even when such a prospect makes the majors, "can't miss" doesn't always translate into an all-star. So I'd probably rephrase that as trading prospects who rank top 50 or top 100 on the major MLB ranking lists for current major league players. Would I do that? Well, again, it depends on what the major leaguer we could get back offers in terms of the mid- to long term, from both a performance and contract POV. It also depends on whether we are dealing a prospect or prospects from our system where we have good depth (say pitching) and getting back either a frontline pitcher, or position player in an area where we have no strong prospect candidates in the system.

I bet we see one more moderate move before or early in sprint training.
