They are only 2 points back from 3rd place. I agree with the ranking even if I don't agree with all the player rankings... 3rd or 4th this year sounds about right.

4th place will always sound right.

We're closer to the Sox than you would think judging by the names and money they have invested. If they sign Jackson they start to pull away. We could have a chance at third here if that rotation holds up. If Lawrie continues at close to that pace, Rasmus rebounds, and one of Thames or Snider breaks out we could sniff second, but alas second in the East isn't the automatic WC spot like it once was. The loser of Angel/Rangers and Tigers/Indians could be in it as well.

Second best maybe. The Yankees bullpen is still a lot better, though. Rivera, Robertson, and Soriano are all better than anybody we have. Bullpen importance pales in comparison to starting pitching and hitting, anyway. So we're second place in the least important facet... woohoo!

That Rays' starting staff does look pretty fantastic, but like last year their offense is suspect. If our starting pitching is solid all year I'd say we're better... but only by a bit.

That might be because based on last year's relief numbers he is.

Cordero really adds no value to this team.

I hope the rangers sign Oswalt, so harrison becomes available. Harrison would be a great addition to this rotation, and IMO would add like 2-3 more points. Plus with our prospects maybe we can get Ogando or Holland. would you do this if you were both teams.

Im not sure I would even give up Syndergaard alone for Holland. Gose, Syndegaard, Mcguire and Hech? That package is almost better then what the Phillies gave up for Halladay.

This is totally lopsided for the Jays and would only serve to enhance AA's godlike image amongst GMs. No other GM would be willing to trade with him for fear of being ripped off. Jays would have to throw in at least a D'Arnaud and Lawrie to the above package to make it credible. And only barely.

That's the kind of package you offer to an ace, not freakin Derek Holland.

The prospects are great but listen to this. With Hech we already have Escobar and it doesnt look like they are going to move him or escobar to second. With Gose we already have rasmus and Marsinick. Sydenngard is good but with holland in our rotation it would be like Romero,Holland,Morrow,Alvarez,Cecil/McGowan/Drabek (if not traded in the deal). Drabek hasn't done well, so it doesn't really hurt that much to lose him. IMO, we are really only losing McGuire. They are all great talents, but so is holland.

Who had one good season, if that. Who also threw what, 70+ innings more than his 2010 season? Are you nuts?

Can you tell me what all those guys did in the majors? Holland has proven something at the MLB level. Those guys haven't. Just because they are great in the minors does not mean that they are going to translate. I do know that they can, and if they do they are going to be great ball players, but what I'm saying is if AA thinks Escobar is going to be our future shortstop and AA has stated they don't wanna move hech or Escobar to 2nd, so why have that log jam? It's the same situation with the rest if those players, with the exception of Deck.

So we've just built up our farm system, and traded a majority of them away for...Derek Holland. All because they won't make the club anyway?

It's all about opportunity cost. To offer all that for Holland is a bad trade because you have to figure, what else can I get with those players?

Think of it this way, you have some money. You'd like to buy a car, so you buy a Civic. But for the same money you could have bought a nice Porsche. All things considered, you probably wanted the Porsche. So, why would you spend your money for the Civic?

Same thing here. You're overpaying for a nice pitcher. Sure you get a solid asset back, but for the same price you could probably get Felix Hernandez...
