It's Encarnacion's time to shine for Jays

Nobody in the Blue Jays locker room knows Edwin Encarnacion better than Jose Bautista. It’s a tight relationship based not only on their Dominican heritage and their Spanish language, but on a mutual, professional empathy.
Both have experienced the frustration of sporadic playing time and inconsistent production, each knowing in their hearts they were capable of more.
In the past two seasons, Encarnacion has seen Bautista blossom into the superstar he is today and no one has cheered more for those exploits. Now, Bautista wishes the same for his friend.
After a sluggish start to the 2011 season, Encarnacion put together the most consistent half-season of his career after the all-star break. In the second half of the season, he hit 11 home runs, drove in 36 runs and had an on-base percentage of .382 and an OPS of .887.
This season, Encarnacion has arrived in camp in the best condition of his career, ready for whatever gets thrown at him. And the Jays have big plans. He will do the bulk of DH duties but will also provide backup at first base, third base and maybe even in the outfield.
“I just want to help in any way I can,” said Encarnacion, who has come to camp in superb condition at a rock-hard 225 pounds, after a winter of rigorous training.
“Wherever they’re going to use me, I will be ready, any position,” he said.
If Encarnacion in the outfield seems a little excessive, given that the team may carry five outfielders as it is, manager John Farrell has a simple reason for wanting to explore that option.
“When we go into interleague play, we don’t want that bat missing from the lineup,” Farrell said.

Encarnacion is rock hard, and ready to be used in any position. Oooooh yeah.
It isn't Spring Training until we've broken out the sophomoric jokes.

Yeah, he's got a tight relationship with Jose, who says EE is ready to fill a key hole... in the lineup.
I can play too. yay!!

There is no can, only will. We owe it to Lance Broadway, Zach Outman and all the other departed sources of immature giggles. We go on so that their careers will not have ended in vain.

I think EE will turn the most heads in 2012. I am feeling a 2.5 fWAR season at DH.

All we need is Bautista to talk about his load again and Spring Training will be complete.

I don't trust EE to throw a ball, or really to catch one either.
But in the batter's box when his mind is clear of distractions he's more than fine.

He's not so bad defensively at 1st, now is he? Frankly, if he shows a continuation of what he was doing in the second half of last season, I'd bat him cleanup with Lawrie fifth. And if JPA can raise his average, I'd seriously consider batting Lind seventh. And if Rasmus has a bounce-back year, I'd seriously consider batting Lind 8th. If Lind has a hot start, I will assume a June swoon is coming. That;s whom I trust the least on the Jays. Adam and his bat.

How did he do playing in LF? He doesnt seem fast enough or athletic enough to play the OF, IMO.

My thoughts are pretty much on par. Although I have serious doubts about Rasmus. I'm a fan of batting average (call me old fashioned) and I worry about 1st, 2nd, CF, LF and C. Which is to say, I don't think Toronto as a team has enough firepower to be in the hunt in september.
