And which one shows up this year?
2011 PRE-All Star break
70 Games
6 HR
19 RBI
9 walks
39 K's
.255/.283/.405
2011 POST-All Star Break
64 Games
11 HR
36 RBI
34 walks
38 K's
.291/.382/.504
OPS By Month in 2011:
April: .647
May: .590
June: .846
July: .909
August: .961
September: .666
So, who is the real EE? Pre all star or post all star? If we are to make the playoffs EE needs to play like he did in the 2nd half.

Very poor ISO in the first 2 months could have been the wrist injury you seam to see that a lot with guys rehabbing those type of injury's. Hes another question mark if he can hit north of 800 OPS thats huge for the Jays they need to let him DH and have a healthy year where he doesn't worry about the field at all.

he is an incredibly naturally gifted baseball player who when forced to field 3rd gets the yips (see tincup)
if left alone to just dh 80% of the time he will hit 275 with 30+ homers.
and FWIW he is an incredibly gifted 3rd baseman, hes just terrified of throwing the ball, his range and hands are awesome, unfortunately he overthinks throwing; watch him at the 3 bag, he triple clutches throws over and over again-- TRIPLE clutches!

There is no such thing as real Edwin Encarnacion. He's just streaky.

The real EE is a guy who sucks defensivley and is a streaky hitter where when he sucks
he looks like a scrub and when he gets hot he looks like he can be a potential asset.
The thing that pisses me off about him the most is his avg with RISP hes killed so many
rallies before other then his GW HR in the last home game of the year hes shown to be
a choker.
Hes got a good contract but hes no spring chicken anymore if he continues to be inconsistent
and continue to leave ducks on the pond frequently then its time to turf him. More times
then not hes a canidate for the weakest link on this team If were gonna make the playoffs
he needs to step it up or moved.

I think he is an above average player at best, I keep him around because Jose and Yunel along with EE have a good bond and they work well together and in the locker room. I much rather see JP or someone like Snider or who ever does not fill the LF spot fill the void at DH. I was surprised we brought him back he is the def of finishing strong and playing for a contract. I really had no want or need in having him back. He isnt really young and we know what his max potential is (not a high ceiling at all) But!!! He did make a few plays last year that I thought were AWESOME!!

Hes around a league average DH with pretty decent surplus value. No reason to move him, he has a purpose here.

I think it's all the real EE. He's got 900 OPS potential in has bat at any given moment, but he's a streaky guy who will suffer long bouts of the bleh's. I do think he's destined for at least a couple .850ish OPS seasons with fewer cold bouts, but I can't imagine how one can determine when that's going to be.

Sounds perfect for 1b

He was the second best hitter on the team last year, and is an average to slightly above average DH going forward. I can't complain about that too much, especially for what he's getting paid. If he can somehow be more consistent, he has plenty of pop to put up a .850 OPS or better season.

He is like 7th in fWAR as a DH, which puts him at average/above average (there are 15 DH's, not 30)
The fact that he sucked for half the year is the best part. He struggled and still managed to be average. If he has a good year (which he can) he will be lights out.

E5 always had slow starts, probably because of poor conditioning over the offseason.
I think he is capable of averaging an OPS of .850.
