Wow we really dodged a bullet here. I had heard that teams wanted to give him 2 and 3 year deals but he was asking for 10+ million. The Boras thought he'd wait out the market and it dried up on him.

Consensus was that Boras' strategy cost him a 25-30 million contract in favor of the 1x8.5 million he got. There's no way he'll get anything other than a small 1 year deal next year.

Another Boras victim. Based on the way he operates they're necessary although on the whole it works out better for him. Madson probably loses out on $20M or so when it's all said and done.
