Soon as he blows too many saves he will retire. He won't try to prolong his career and ruin his numbers.

But his numbers are as good as ever. He's actually pitched better in the second half of his career than in the first.

To be sure, he will retire at the end of the season. It's just not clear he should. He can play another season.

I watched the game today, and the broadcasters were saying during the game that they asked him when he would retire, and he said he wanted to play 4 more years. I'm guessin he was just messing around.

My point is part of the reason he said he will "announce" mid season is likely because he will evaluate mid season. He likely doesn't want to finish at the bottom of his game and instead of playing himself into the ground he will retire while he is just starting to decline.

Just opinion though and yours is as good as mine.

Look at this example of swag from the current MLB HR leader, Yoenis Cespedes. Oh, what could have been.

Hes got a ton of power, will he be able to get on base thats the question. Would have been real nice to get him on the Jays that offence would be well, amazing.

Good for him. I'll take KJ and his patient approach at the plate over Hill's power hitting any day of the week. We already have a lot of sluggers. KJ is a tough out most of the time.

Kelly has more power than Hill, by a fair margin too

Beckett has given up 5 homeruns in 4 2/3 innings, watching this **** face gettign destroyed is almost as fun as the Jays winning

I'd be surprised if Pineda debuts before June, teams are always incredibly optimistic when it coems to these things

I hope Beckett is back to 2010 form. That would send things into a tailspin for the Sox.

Is anyone else completely underwhelmed with the Angels' offence? Obviously their starters are phenomenal and they have Pujols, but I think they're going to need Morales to stay healthy (he's only had over 250 PA's once in his career) and for Mike Trout to have a Lawrie like impact when he gets called up for them to even have a chance at finishing ahead of the Rangers. I still think with their starters (and games against the A's and Mariners) they have a better chance at the playoffs than the Blue Jays but I think they're pretty vulnerable.

Tough (and dumb) to make too many snap judgements about the Red Sox and Yankees after two games against tough opponents, but it was a good sign to see Kuroda struggle- there were lots of question marks about him coming from the NL West, and he didn't really do anything to answer them.

Yoenis Cespedes is having a ridiculous start to his career. 15AB 4 hits and 3 are HR's. And he's struck out 7 times and gotten hit by two pitches.
