They have the worst pen in baseball, damage the unproven starters (other than Lester) early and get the pen in there as fast as possible.

Going to be an interesting series. The Red Sox bullpen just might be more overused than ours has been so far.
Also The Red Sox absolutely own Romero, and Lestor seems to always be at his best vs the Jays. Drabek has not had ANY success vs the Red Sox, some guys like A-Gon and Ortiz have massive numbers in limited plate appearances vs Drabek.
Bard has also owned us out of the bullpen but who knows what to expect from him as a starter.
Hope we could win 2/3.

Terrified about Drabek going against this Sox line-up. But the Red Sox pitching is awful, plus their already crappy bullpen has been extended today.

Yeah, we could easily lose all 3

I think we'll win tomorrow and lose the following two.. Obviously, i hope i am wrong and come up with a series win, it will be tough though.

hah Sox lost in the 11th. I expect us to win tomorrow and tuesday, as long as drabek contains the long ball and his control. History says we'll lose that last matchup, but anything could happen, I suppose.

Patience, patience, patience. Doubront has a tendency to walk people, and Bard was beyond wild in Spring Training (and as a starter eons ago). Let them throw; their bullpen is at least as taxed as ours at the moment.

We have the potential to put up some big run totals over the next couple games if we can get to their starters early, and punish their pen (and we're going to need to because our starters as similarly vulnderable). We can't be starting off slow though against their starters like we have in the previous 3 games though.

We may have to think about doing single game threads in the future...
We'll see how this series goes.

Lester was 8th in the league last season in pitches/PA. Also Boston and the Yankees were #1 and #2 in total pitches seen.
Patience is the way to go, every single team ahead of us in "total pitches seen" made the playoffs. One even won the WS.
Even Jeff Mathis today saw like 14 total pitches or something (It will be out on ESPN stats tonight/tomorrow) in 3 PA which is great. There should be a correlation between pitches seen and win%, I'm sure of it. Somebody should do a study on it.

Would certainly be nice to beat them down this series, and have Red Sox Nation in full-fledged panic mode a week into the season.

I am confident that the Jays bats can bust out in the first two games (Lester will be tough), but I have no clue what to expect from Alvarez, and I expect Drabek to have a lot of trouble against the patient Boston lineup.
This will be the type of series where it wouldn't surprise me if we swept or got swept. Like always, I just want to win the series.
