It sounds like he injured his shoulder. They don't know how bad, but people are speculating from 6 weeks for non-surgury to season ending.

Too bad for Ellsbury. It could create a major opportunity for us however. I really don't want him to be seriously injured. I want no excuses from the Red Sox when we make the playoffs.

Actually we need one (or both) of the Yankees or Tampa Bay to get some major injury issues. Boston was already vulnerable going into this season. If I were to pick one team the Jays would most possibly have finished above this season, it would have been Boston. But to make the playoffs, we'll need to leapfrog one of the other two as well most likely.

Boohoo. I bet ya he'd steal your girlfriend if he had the chance. We don't need to feel sorry for him or anyone on the Red Sox.

Not necessarily; we'd then need to leapfrog one of the Angels or Rangers, if not one of the Yankees and Rays. The Angels are probably the more vulnerable of the two...even with Pujols, their lineup has some real question marks.

Could have been a dislocated shoulder.

I've talked a lot of **** (ie. two posts) about the Angels in the Around the MLB thread. I am completely unimpressed with their lineup and bullpen. They'll need Mike Trout to be called up and have a big impact and make a trade to bolster the 'pen to make the playoffs, and regardless I still don't think they'll be able to come close to the Rangers to win the west. And yes, I know it's only one week in and record doesn't mean a whole lot, but from all indications the Angels and Red Sox are vulnerable and the Jays need to take advantage.

Bitter sweet: I have him on one of my two fantasy teams.

Ellsbury tweets that there is no timetable for his recovery, but the Boston Globe says he's out 6-8 weeks.
