Some real maturity from Cordero. If anything, I respect him for that. He recognizes he's terrible and is admitting it. Arencibia really has no reason to be miffed, he simply hits into a lot of double plays and isn't having a good year by any stretch.

I'm glad he's JP's upset. You should want to be in there and he went to the manager and they talked about it. He stated he has to accept it and play on. But he has to look at himself too which is tough. He doesn't hit for average, he grounds in to a lot of DP's. He does drive in runs and tends to come through in run producing situations, maybe not as consistently as you'd hope.

All he has to do is be a better hitter, get that average up and put pressure on Farrell to not take him out.

Arencibia should be upset. Anybody with any self-respect and confidence at all should be. That's a good sign, not a bad one.

I do like Farrell's willingness to pinch hit late in games in crucial situations (except apparently with Lind at the plate), it is very un-Cito like. But pinch hitting the far inferior hitter Omar for JPA was a colossal example of overmanaging.

I'm glad this team seems to have more maturity than past teams when it comes to decisions. Unlike some other guys in the past (Hillenbrand, Lewis, Accardo) who were huge babies when it came to stuff like this.

I totally agree. Pinch hitting a guy with no power for a guy who has come through in the past in similar situations is totally overmanaging. I know JPA has hit into his fair share of DPs, but with a runner on 3rd and one out, let him swing the damn bat.

And also, why did he pinch hit for JPA here but no pinch hit for Omar on Sunday in the 9th? :-?

I was following the game on Gamecast and was flabbergasted at the move. I assumed that JPA had pulled something, because why else ....? He already had a hit in the game, and hasn't been too shabby lately.

Fortunately Farrell got bailed out by Johnson's hit. But of course as it turned out, we needed more runs. And JPA was much more likely to provide them.

My only caveat is that the outs that inning were on grounders. The pitcher was obviously keeping the ball down, and a double play was certainly in the cards.

I think the idea was to go for the safety squeeze but..Visqul failed miserably.

I think he should have left JPA in to hit..he has driven in runs, and hits alot of long fly balls. Probably would have driven in the run.

It's pretty easy to second guess that move, especially because it didn't work.
Farrell probably thought that the odds of Visquel getting the bunt down > odds of JP getting a hit.

It's good that JP is being a man about it - talk about it and then move on.

JPA should be upset. I'd make a bigger deal out of it if he wasn't upset.
