What Could Lind Fetch
Any GMs have any hope that he will regain form and give us a good deal. ideally it would be nice to add a bullpen piece for him. what do you guys thing a reasonable deal for him would be

Casey: yeah I know, we needed spacing
BC: play him more (walks away)

Literally nothing, I'd imagine. We'd be hard-pressed to find someone who'd even take half of his remaining contract off our hands.

**** your asterisk.

If somebody is willing to give you a bag of balls for him and pay his contract, you take it.

Jose Calderon.
It's still amazing to me that we got value from Aaron Hill, although he was on that last year of his contract. And then Hill immediately turned it around, like flicking a light switch. His OPS is .770 this year after resigning with Arizona, whereas his last two years in Toronto were .665 and .583 (before the trade, .878 after).
Maybe AA can convince other teams that the Jays are a toxic environment for players, who will immediately turn it around if traded. Unfortunately, the D-Backs already have a first baseman. Lyle Overbay is OPSing .964 for them.

Milwaukee might be desperate enough to give up something for him.

I'd be very curious to hear Tony Reagins' opinion!

Re: What Could Lind Fetch
He could definitely get Cole Hamels. We could probably get a few prospect too. Lind had a really good year once, so that must be valuable.

Re: What Could Lind Fetch
Well, I think he's got a tiny bit of value, but not much (BTW, I thought I hated Lind before this year, but I'm starting to think I'm as close to a Lind lover around here as there is right now, based on some of the things people have said about him this season).
My top 5 options for dumping Lind in no particular order:
HOU - If you upgrade to C.Lee, but eat that monster contract (probably have to throw in a prospect too, but Lind'd be a tiny bit more than salary ballast against Lee, just not much). Actually I have no idea who'd be where on the prospects as I can't remember what Lee's got left, but if it's more than a year, this is probably insane.
MIL - With Gamel out, they're playing Ishikawa. They'd probably give up a B or so if we offered up Lind instead, at least until they decide this year is hopeless.
LAD - If you wanna swap for Loney, they're pretty sick of him out there too, so that might be doable.
CLE - You'll see the recurring theme here. A **** vet making vet money who they'd likely just punt for a fresh face, but you have to take the other one back.
FLA - Really the best option to me (in all cases but MIL I'm only assuming swaps with some cheese around the edges on either side for balance, like KJ/Hill last year), but also the least likely (if you think it's unpossible, fair enough, I'm just more willing to believe the people running the Marlins are 'tards). Gotta hope they give up on Gabby this year (whose stats look brutal this year) and want a LH bat 'cause they're pretty righty dominant in the middle. Funniest part would be trading Lind to the park where he'd never hit another HR, so the Marlins' fans couldn't even say, "but he hit 26 HR last year."
So, it's like the least amount of value you can have and be registerable really, but I'd say his ability/salary/history combo still tilts just the slightest hint of a wink of a nudge into positive territory (mostly because I believe there's at least one GM in baseball who'll see those 2009 numbers and dream himself into pulling the trigger).

I think any prospect would be nice for us. Insert Vladdy who could probably take his place and help build the farm team.

I could see Milwaukee and Oakland showing some real interest in him. What we would get in return is a huge if.
Want: Trae Young, Michael Porter Jr., DeAndre Ayton, Jaren Jackson Jr, Marvin Bagley III, Mohamad Bamba, Shai Gilgeous- Alexander, Elie Okobo, Jevon Carter

I don't see OAK. I know they look like they're doing okay now, but they'll be way out of it soon and they know it and they wouldn't pay Lind, especially when they've already got 3-5 potential Linds for 1B between the bigs and AAA. They certainly wouldn't give anything back for him, but I don't even think they'd take him for free.

A clean-up hitter in his prime years, signed at only 5 mil per. Those are worth a lot, right.

That's like saying wedding rings are worth a lot of money if you're trying to sell a wedding ring made out of a twist-tie.

Re: What Could Lind Fetch
If we ate most of his contract I could see us getting a B level prospect back. Some teams might be looking for a buy low on a guy who has the potential to be good (he did have an excellent 2009).
