Looks like Wilner and every other baseball guy was wrong about disciplining Umpires in public.

Major League Baseball announced the veteran umpire had been suspended for "repeated violations of the Office of the Commissioner's standards for situation handling."

Makes you think how short a leash Bill Miller has with the MLB office...

It seems more like a move to shut up people that have been calling out MLB for the last couple of days. They really don't discipline the Umps or it's not publicized when they do. There's a lot of heat on them the past few days so they picked one guy and gave him a game.

I just don't like how in these confrontations, the player/manager is expected to publicly apologize or address it but the umpire is never called out. And often times, these umps escalate things themselves, more so than officials in any other sport.

This is completely different than what the sports shows have been talking about. He wasn't suspended for being bad at his job, but rather for handling a confrontation inappropriately.
