Here's the gist of it;

-ESPN got 30 "baseball minds" together
-fantasy draft format
-order was randomized

So far, Brett Lawrie was picked 13th by the fans, and 15th overall by Steve Berthiaume (Baseball Tonight). Jose was picked 20th as the "fan choice", but has yet to be picked by the "experts."

Experts' first round:

M.KEMP
T.TULOWITZKI
C.KERSHAW
J.VERLANDER
E.LONGORIA
S.STRASBURG
J.UPTON
J.VOTTO
S.CASTRO
F.HERNANDEZ
R.BRAUN
B.HARPER
M.TROUT
G.STANTON
B.LAWRIE
A.MCCUTCHEN
P.FIELDER
E.HOSMER
M.WIETERS
R.ZIMMERMAN
R.CANO
N.FELIZ
B.POSEY
J.PROFAR
D.PRICE
J.SAMARDZIJA
C.GONZALEZ
Y.DARVISH
M.CABRERA
J.HEYWARD

The fans I expect to be crazy, but some of these so called experts obviously just picked the first guy who popped into their heads. I don't believe most of the god awful picks are a reflection of a calculated decision that the guy was the best available, just that they're freaking lazy and took less than 15 seconds to come to a conclusion.

It was Rick Sutcliffe (Baseball Tonight)

If you click the link, the video that plays automatically has Sutcliffe trying to defend his pick. Hahaha!

i dont get taking a pitcher that high. pitchers are just way too hit or miss, especially young guys. not to mention only playing every 5 days. youre really gonna take kershaw ahead of votto, braun, longoria etc to build a franchise?
