Vladimir Guerrero Discussion

Hello friends...

I know I've talked about Vlad in a couple other threads but I wanted to know what everyone else feels about this signing. Personally I'm thrilled about it. His career numbers are astoundingly good as I'm sure everyone knows, but quite frankly, he has not really regressed a HECK of a lot. I think he still has the ability to be a .300 hitter and I think he will hit for power at the skydome. I would love to see this guy join our club soon.

He hit 2 more dingers in Dunedin tonight and is now 9/20 in 4 games with 4 taters, 8 ribbies. Hope he gets here sooner than later. Ultimately I'd like to see Vladdy and Snider up. With Adam off the 40, and Thames demotion. I think this is entirely plausible.. francisco is expendable, mccoy is nobody... cooper is AAAA.... lets get this line-up set and start making a push. Agree?

Saying a 37 year old has great career numbers means nothing, if you are still playing at age 37, you have a good past with the bat.

I am indifferent, if he can produce, sure, but if not we have other players. I wouldn't get too excited.

I don't think EE can play 1B everyday (back), and i think he's way more comfortable as DH. So do we put Valddy in LF, not everyday but maybe 2 times a week ?

I'm not sure how the lineup configuration would work because it depends who's here but I'd imagine he sees a lot of time at DH and a few spot starts in the OF. I'm not overly excited to be honest, I just feel that Vladdy has plenty left in the tank. Yes he's 37 but his only season ever under .300 was last year... some power and speed has gone, but he still has enough power to hit @ skydome.

Even if he's used sparingly, I think he will contribute... I think he will fit well too.

He's going to have to learn if he wants to get paid as a FA.

How about no.

Cooper hitting well is hurting Vlad at this point because it doesn't really leave a spot for EE to be except DH on a regular basis. Our offensive weakness is LF and RF (Bautista) really and Vlad can't help us there.

Offensive weakness in RF? Did I read that wrong?

The funny thing is what he describes as "Cooper hitting well" is still a lower wOBA (.329) than Bautista even has this season while struggling for much of it (.340).

David Cooper's presence is not an impediment to anything this team wants to do and it will certainly not prevent them from moving Encarnacion to 1B when Vlad comes up (and more than likely, sending Cooper back to where he belongs in Vegas).

Intrigued, but with very low expectations.

and if you're 49, then you shouldn't be playing at all... right Jamie Moyer?

Looking pass your Cooper hate, the team will not trot out a lineup with only 2 lefties. You know Farrell wants a balance of both So look for EE to be LF when Vlad comes up?

The question is was 2010 his last hurrah or was last season (playing on a bad team, injuries and apparently not fitting in well) the anomaly?

Vladimir Guerrero will join the 51s on Saturday at Cashman Field vs. Reno as they begin a 4-game homestand #bluejays

if i had to guess, we will see him called up on the 6th or 7th, so he's with the team for interleague play

Vladimir Guerrero to join triple-A Las Vegas 51s on Saturday. Blue Jays next Tuesday in Chicago?

This Vegas lineup is looking MLB-like.

Gose
Hech
Lind
d'Arnaud
Thames
Vlad
Gomes
Sierra
Diaz

It's filthy baseball to watch. Can't wait until tomorrow. I'd argue this team in the MLB would beat some teams (Pirates)

Do we really need him for interleague play? Someone's already on the outside looking in (probably Cooper) so we may as well let him keep getting into shape.

When he comes back he can be the DH while E5 plays first.
