Vlad Guerrero experiment ends. Vlad released

Okay this one's on Wilner if it's wrong.

‏@Ken_Rosenthal
Vlad's agent, Bean Stringellow, on talk of Vlad retiring: "Nothing further from the truth. He is hitting, running very well."

@Ken_Rosenthal
Asked if Vlad is opting out on #BlueJays, Stringellow said, "He has not done so. Not yet." Added there's no date on opt-out, said it's open.

Ken Rosenthal ‏@Ken_Rosenthal

Vlad's agent, Bean Stringellow, on talk of Vlad retiring: "Nothing further from the truth. He is hitting, running very well." MORE #BlueJays

Asked if Vlad is opting out on #BlueJays, Stringellow said, "He has not done so. Not yet." Added there's no date on opt-out, said it's open.

Ken Rosenthal ‏@Ken_Rosenthal

Vlad went 4-for-5 with a triple last night at AAA. He is batting .303/.314/.424 in 33 plate appearances with Las Vegas.

Now this starts to make sense. Stringfellow seems to have been waiting for Rosenthal's call.

Vlad's getting antsy in the minors and is putting pressure on AA to bring him up now.

Good, as he should. It's Vladimir Guerrero. You don't leave him in the minors to re-prove himself to you. You throw him in the fire, either sink or swim. He doesn't deserve to sit around in AAA.

AA showing us once again, he's a PR person's worst nightmare.

11 games in the minors, 7 in AAA and he's frustrated?

Cmon man.

I guess he wanted to get called up faster, and since he didnt get the call up, he retired.

Good and AA should bring him up. We need the extra offense and there is no point keeping him there until September before a call up. Send Mccoy down.

If promises were made, they should have promoted him.

But don't give in. Vlad isn't going to vault us into the playoffs and it's not worth the message to the youngsters.

Cut ties.

Gregor Chisholm ‏@gregorMLB
Guerrero is now free to seek employment from another team. Contrary to earlier reports, he's not retiring. #BlueJays

Shi Davidi ‏@ShiDavidi
Blue Jays grant Guerrero his request for release.

Didn't something similar happen to Randy Ruiz a couple years ago? What about Jeremy Accardo?

Either way, that average against righties was probably a big reason why he wasn't promoted just yet.

wow havent thought of the name jeremy accardo in a whle. anyways, regardless of wether he shouldve been called up or not - especially with us in the midst of interleague - its never smart to alienate one of the more respected and popular dominican players.
