So does this move and the waiver claim mean that someone (ie. Villanueva) is moving into the rotation?

Not a good sign when you wonder whether the cash considerations might be a more viable option on the mound than the player acquired.

This "deal" is the proverbial white flag.

This guy always came through for my bets last year, the only way I know who he is.
Always bet on the opposing team to light him up, and they did.

I will beat this horse until it is a bloody stomp, but.....
Cordero + Frasor = $8.25 million
Colon + Bedard = $6.50 million
Even the Yankees made sure they had Andy Pettitte on standby in case something happened with their rotation (which was 7 deep before Pettitte was signed). Why in the world AA decided to start the year with Alvarez, Cecil, and McGowan pencilled in as the bottom three starters in the rotation baffles me. Add Colon and Bedard to the rotation and replace Cordero/Frasor in the pen with Carreno and Joe Schmo, and is this team is a hell of a lot better.
In reality, we get to see Sean O'Sullivan, Jesse Chavez, Aaron Laffey, etc, as our quality depth due to injury. I guess every GM has a weakness. This is AA's.

I agree with you, but injury-prone Bedard would have ended up on the DL, too. Still, he would've been a good signing.

Even if Bedard did get hurt, it would have been worth it to acquire him. If the Jays entered the season with Romero, Morrow, Colon, Bedard, and Alvarez (he was a lock to make it regardless), then that would have left Cecil, McGowan, Drabek, Hutch, Carreno, etc, as the depth. Instead, they went with Romero, Morrow, Alvarez, Cecil, and McGowan. Then McGowan got hurt and Drabek took his spot. Then Cecil sucked and Carreno took his spot. The depth was already used up before the season even began.
Good teams don't plan for everything to work out without a problem (except the Rays who are immune to pitching injuries for some reason).

Guys, sometimes you have to look past just the numbers. If you actually WATCH him pitch you'll see this is not one of those times. He's truly awful.

I'm gonna go out and get my spot now, to beat the rush. Someone bring me some food and a pee bottle.

The Kansas City Royals sent minor league pitcher Sean O'Sullivan to the Toronto Blue Jays for cash on Thursday.
The 24-year-old O'Sullivan was 5-4 with a 6.75 ERA in 17 games, including five starts, for Triple-A Omaha. The righty has pitched in the majors with the Los Angeles Angels and Royals, going 10-14 with a 6.13 ERA in 43 games.

Who did you all expect to get? Seriously, some of you are jokers. I'm guessing O'Sullivan takes over the longman role that was once Villanueva's.
