He turned it down like many others cause they claimed the owner had too much control over the GM duties, but truth is like i say, Baltimore was just a dump. They had very little assets and were no where near even becoming a winning team...... they looked like a bottom 2-3 team coming into the season
Tony LaCava was their man... deal was set... but he walked away
now dont get me wrong, LaCava is a fine assistant GM and he will be employed at some point as a lead GM.... but did he blow this one?
the new guy that Baltimore had to "settle" for didnt do much but the team just clicked... basically that coulda been Tony LaCava job.
now they look like a talented young team who will win for a while.... and they got a farm system too!
mistake made?

I truly believe it was because of ownership not team. First time GM's rarely reject a team even if they are 30th in the league in talent and minors.

I'm glad you put "settle" in quotation marks because the GM they hired is Dan Duquette.

LaCava isn't gonna regret anything, Baltimore will be in the 5th place by the middle of July its where they belong and its where they'll stay for a long long time or atleast until they have a change in ownership.
