Pitcher injury updates?

Post#1 » by YogiStewart » Wed Jul 4, 2012 12:53 pm

Just wondering if anyone's seen any updates on our pitchers.

Its assumed Morrow will be back in a month. Is he tossing yet?
Same with Hutch. Thought it was a 2 week shut-down, then resume tossing.

use the same recipe for Santos and, sigh, McGowan. any news?

Huth isn't due back until September from what I remember, and there has been no word on Morrow's return.

Santos shut it down again after a setback during a bullpen a few weeks ago

Morrow; from yahoo sports(all i could find)

RHP Brandon Morrow, who came out of his June 11 start with a strained left oblique muscle, is gradually coming back but has no time frame for his return. "He's in a throwing program, but there is a loose framework to it because the main goal is just to keep his arm moving," manager John Farrell said. "So there are days he comes in and feels he can reproduce just a throwing motion at 60 and 90 feet. But there are other days he comes in and he might feel a little more tight than others, and he won't throw on that day."

Ya pretty sure Morrow tweeted and said things felt good after throwing and someone from the Jays said he would be back in early August, but they won't rush him.

I don't expect Santos back this year. Hutch may be in September but if there is no need for him they may just rest him so he is good for next year.

Santos is "ramping up" his throwing according to JF this afternoon. Who knows what is going on.

John Lott ‏@LottOnBaseball
JF says Morrow long-tossing at 150 ft. Making good progress but still no timetable for getting back on mound.

John Lott ‏@LottOnBaseball
Morrow not feeling discomfort in side when throwing. JF: "He'll feel it occasionally when he sneezes."

Blue Jays place reliever Luis Perez on 15-day disabled list

CHICAGO — The Toronto Blue Jays placed left-handed reliever Luis Perez on the 15-day disabled list on Sunday with left elbow tightness.

The 27-year-old faced five batters in the sixth inning of Sunday’s 11-9 win over the Chicago White Sox and allowed one run. He came back out for the seventh inning and gave up hits to Alex Rios and Alexei Ramirez before exiting with the team trainer. He was charged with two runs on four hits over one-plus innings.

Blue Jays manager John Farrell said Perez will fly to Florida for further examination.

Perez is 2-2 with a 3.43 ERA on the season.

Toronto will not make a corresponding roster move immediately.

Tough luck for Perez but I could see it happening, his control was wild lately..I can see Cecil moved to the pen, we got no lefty bullpen depth except for a couple of unproven AA relievers in Loup and Matt Wright

Of the 7 Jays pitchers on DL, only one -- Morrow -- appears on track to return this season. Santos a big maybe. Hutch seems a long shot.

Morrow is improving now?

Morrow (oblique) ready to throw off mound

Brandon Morrow (oblique) is symptom-free and will throw off a mound for the first time this weekend.
Good news. There's no clear timetable for Morrow's return, but it's feasible he could rejoin the Jays' rotation by the end of the month if all goes well. The 27-year-old right-hander has been sidelined for a month with a strained left oblique.

Some pitcher (and d'Arnaud news)

2m Shi Davidi ‏@ShiDavidi
Some injury news from AA: Final word on Luis Perez surgery expected Mon; Hutchison (elbow) expected to start throwing around July 23.

Shi Davidi ‏@ShiDavidi
More from AA: Travis d'Arnaud's knee injury will likely cost him rest of minor-league season. Probably bound for AFL to make up at-bats.

Sergio Santos will have shoulder surgery, focusing on labrum (rotator cuff is fine). Expected back for Spring Training. #Bluejays #jays

I agree and think they should feel the same way about Hutch as well.
