Important series for the Jays, with all the wild-card teams playing each other:
Yankees vs Angels
Rays vs Red Sox
Orioles vs Tigers
If everything goes right, now is the time to move from last in the division to 3rd or even 2nd. We've got Romero coming off a bounce back and a hot Villanueva.

Though we should beat the indians, Masterson owned us on opening day, and Lowe almost always pitches well against us... We'll be lucky if we can win this series.

didn't bautista fall into a slump after all-star break? too much HR swings messing his timing

His OPS was 1.0 + for both July and August last year but he did slow down his HR/AB slightly.

Well, the pitching order says a bit about what they think/hope will happen IMO.
Last 5 starts before ASB = Villanueva/Alvarez/Laffey/Romero/Cecil
First 5 starts after ASB = Romero/Laffey/Villanueva/Alvarez/Cecil
IMO that means Alvarez and Cecil are the de facto 4 and 5's for the year. Laffey and Villanueva are Morrow and trade placeholders. IMO if they had any confidence in Alvarez right now he'd be at least 3rd starting out again. Especially 'cause if they want to do skips, the first two days off could/would skip the 5th and 4th starters respectively.
Of course if Laffey and/or Villanueva are replaced, but have outperformed the 4 and 5 I guess they could slide down, but IMO when they set this rotation, that's the initial plan for the second half, which bodes fairly well for those hoping for an upgrade since I don't think they'd be holding 2 and 3 open unless they plan to add a SP. I guess they could've already decided Villanueva is the #3, but that doesn't seem likely to me.
Anyway, end of my pointless conjecture based on almost nothing.

Not starting Alvarez in the top three likely has a lot to do with Cleveland's lineup construction (almost entirely LHBs).

Yeah Buck and Tabby mentioned this before the break, Indians have less than 10 wins against LHP this year so it certaintly helps, and then giving the pitchers a few extra days rest that need it most will also help.
We also get 2 lefties against the Yankees coming up, who also hit worse against lefties.

I missed Jays games so much, I'm not even going to complain about anything tonight. I'm even looking forward to seeing Coco's chubby face.

Not sure if rogersondemand.com uses the same feed as what's sent to mlb.tv but I'm trying to watch on mlb.tv and that's screwed. It's stuck on the screen that says "this game will begin shortly".

That's exactly what I'm getting, too.
