The Jays are willing to move Escobar, sources say, in part because of their belief that Triple A shortstop Adeiny Hechavarria is ready to play in the majors. Hechavarria, 23, is batting .314 with an .805 OPS in the hitter-friendly Pacific Coast League.

Interesting development...can't say Im surprised.

I'll think of a deal...

Escobar for Balfour anyone?

You would have to think Escobar is a pretty darn valuable trade asset. The guy had a WAR over 4 last year and has a great contract. I don't really envision him being dealt though.

I am personally not trading Yunel unless he's part of a package to acquire all-star type talent back in return..

I would assume that would be the only way they trade him. For example, the D-Backs want major league guys for Upton, do they not? And they desperately need a SS.

Smokescreen.

AA is building up Hech's value to the D-Backs by putting it out that Escobar is expendable. Doncha see? It's so damn obvious.

Yeah, I don't imagine the Jays will trade their first good SS in over a decade to make room for an unproven prospect (especially with no 2B under contract in 2013 as well).

if Arizona wants a SS, let them take Hech instead of Escobar.

it feels like since we brought up Alex Gonzalez in the 90's.

The first Alex Gonzalez? He wasn't a very good player.

Say what you want about AA, but he has yet to sell low on any player. Well, he did sell low on Napoli, but he never targetted him to begin with so it was a bit different. I highly doubt he will trade Escobar when Yunel is having a down season and is locked up to an affordable contract. He is more likely to either trade Hech or bring him up next year and move Escobar to 2B.

Keep Yunnel and do something between him and Hech with second and SS...................unless we get something that blows us out of the water

This. The only problem is that each smokescreen needs to be more complicated than the last until finally, the gm has forgotten who the smokescreen was for and who he was actually intending on trading. In the mass state of confusion and hysteria, Anthopolous will then make his trade.
